Ponderosa Speedway’s Fall Classic Pays $15,000-to-win October 13-14 for the Southern Nationals Series

BRASSTOWN, NC (October 9, 2017)—The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV will start down the homestretch of races for the 2017 season as the tour will visit Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. this Friday and Saturday October 13-14 during the 27th Annual Fall Classic presented by Caton Industrial Painting.
The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series drivers will compete for $15,000-to-win and $750-to-start in the 75-lap main which will be contested on Saturday Night. In addition, the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series will be racing for $2,000-to-win and $200-to-start (40 laps feature) as well as the Crate Late Models racing for $2,000-to-win, the KDRA Super Stocks will compete for $2,000-to-win in the Bobby Carrier Sr. Memorial and the Stock Four Cylinders will race for $1,200-to-win and the Mini Cups will race for $300-to-win.
This will be the eleventh points race of the season as the tour has seen nine different winners in ten races so far. The only repeat winner of the tour is Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn. has claimed victories at North Georgia Speedway and Rome Speedway. Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga. leads the point standings over David Payne of Murphy, N.C. Joey Standridge of Tellico Plains, Tenn. is third in the series point standings while Jeff Neubert of Rockford, Tenn. is fourth in the points followed by Jamie Oliver of Murphy, N.C. is currently fifth.
The Brucebilt Iron-Man Modified tour has seen nine different winners in 14 races so far on the season. Tommy Bailey of Corbin, Ky. is the most recent series winner on the tour.
On Thursday October 12, there will be an open practice session for all divisions from 7:00 until 10:00 pm. The price per person in the pit area is $20.00 while the grandstand admission is free. The pits will open at 5:00 pm on Thursday night.
On Friday October 13, the pits and grandstands will open at 4:00 pm and the driver’s meeting is set for 7:00 pm. Hot laps will roll out at around 7:20 pm. Friday’s program will feature practice, qualifying and Heat races for the Southern Nationals Series Late Models and other divisions. Adult general admission is $20 while pit passes are $35.
On Saturday October 14, all gates will open at 3:00 pm with the drivers meeting slated for 6:30 pm with hot laps to follow around 7:00 pm. Saturday’s program will feature practice, Conseys and Feature event for the Southern Nationals Series Late Models and other divisions. Adult general admission is $30 while pit passes are $45.
A two-day pit pass will be offered for $75 while a two-day grandstand ticket will be offered for $45.
The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will utilize the following tire rule for Ponderosa Speedway: Hoosier 1350 and 1600 and American Racer 48 and 56. At each Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series event in 2017, the highest finishing CT525 engine in the main event will receive a $200 bonus and the highest finishing Steel Head/SPEC engine will also receive a $200 bonus. The entry fee is $125 and all non-qualifiers will receive $100 tow money.
The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will sanction the Open Wheel Modified portion of the racing program. The entry fee for Modified competitors will be $50. The Modified tire rule for the event will be as follows: Front- Medium, A40S, M-30s, A40, Hard, H40, & M-60 (siping allowed on front due to carry-over from 2016 season); Rear- Hoosier A40S, M-30S, A40, Hard, H40, M-60 and American Racer Hard and Extra Hard with no grooving allowed. The only tires that can be siped on the rear is the Hoosier M-60 and American Racer Extra Hard. All Modified non-qualifiers receive $25 tow money.
