Does anyone have any figures to date? I know Bloomquist is down considerably in total earnings from last year. I would assume Brandon Sheppard is the top money maker thus far since he has been so dominant in WoO series. Thanks in advance...

Either Sheppard, TMac or Overton

It looks like TMac and Sheppherd have each earned 283,000 in series racing....not counting non-series racing
Bloomquist is at 265,000 in series...so add the Dream to that, and he's 365,000 plus all other non-series races...
I'd say when all non-series races are added in, those 3 are probably pretty close.
Bloomquist has a 20,000 Ultimate win, Sheppherd has 15,000 in Lucas wins,

Probably Bloomquist (because of the dream win). I doubt Overton is in the top 4/5.

The question is, how much do they get to keep.

I know he's primarily a sprint car driver but pretty sure Donny Schatz is comfortably ahead of anyone when it comes to winnings on dirt overall.

The question was on dirt overall this year in LM. I don't think Schatz is close. lol.

You are pretty close on them three. Bloomquist made little under $395,000. Tmac round $310,000. Brandon $300,000 I might missed 1 or 2 of his winnings in his family car. Going through dirt on dirt schedule page by page made my eyes cross last night lol.

Because he wants the challenge of running against the best every week?

Because he wants the challenge of running against the best every week?He would get enough chances when lucas and woo come through to test his skills just doesnt make sense financially hes what 8-9th in points...and its already been proven the best all dont run national tours...

How do you know what makes sense financially for Erb? I’ll answer for you, you don’t you’re just assuming and we all know where that gets you.

The WoO Sprints would be screwed if Stewart, Kahne and Larson weren't car owners. This is where the 2 major late model series are better set with a good field of car owners.

It's really cool seeing David Gravel run so well against all that NASCAR money.

Well you kind of do. How much backing does he have? That big part how much money he coming out pocket. National tour money Lucas and WoO he made around $117,000, none national tour Low side of $40,000. So after taxes of that $157,000, how much he came out of pocket?

It would be very hard to get to the bottom line for these guys. What do the third or tenth place pay? What's the tire and fuel bill? How many pit crew are on the payroll? How much sponsor money are they getting? What are they getting in race parts or money for using their name in ads? What are they getting in apparel sales? Wins aren't everything, even the best, lose more than they win.

What would be much more interested is seeing a truthful spread sheet that would give a real number as to profit or loss. The actual number, either profit or loss, that exists when total expenses are deducted from total expenses, sponsorship money not included on the plus side of the equation.

Only Erb and his accountants know the answer but I’m pretty sure he’s making good money or he wouldn’t be doing the Lucas tour, the Erb family are not wealthy people.

Says something about the difference in National tours when Tim McCreadie and Brandon Sheppard have made the same amount of money on their national tours but Tim McCreadie has done it with 6 less starts and 12 less wins.

#1. I never specified any particular driver or team. I also never implied that any specific team or driver was not making any money. It's just a point of curiosity.

#2. My only point was that gross receipts can be misleading in that if the expenditures equal or exceed the gross receipts the team is dealing with a net negative. As I said before, sponsorship resources not withstanding. It's the teams who are the most successful on the least resources who are the most impressive from a pure business standpoint.

Many of the most successful dirt drivers have entered their golden years less than comfortable financially. How financially solvent they appear during the productive years of their career are not necessarily an indication as to their financial condition after the party is over.

I think next year, I'll print off the schedules and maybe keep up with it better, hopefully. I know Bloomquist is off a lot when compared to last years winnings. To be honest with you, I'm surprised that Brandon Sheppard hasn't won more money but Scott's DREAM 100 win was worth $100,000, so...it takes a lot of WoO shows or UMP's Hell Tour wins to add up to $100,000. I'd be interested in knowing how far behind Josh Richards is, as well. I'd say those four and maybe Madden make up the top 5 in total earnings for the year??? Not sure. Thanks again...appreciate your post/information.

So even if one of those 3 win the next 100k race .....400 k doesnt sound like a way to get rich in this sport / hobby ....
