Rod Conley Transfers into $100,000 Dirt Track World Championship at PRP

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) The Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams made their way to the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on October 20-21 for the 37th Annual 'Dirt Track World Championship.' A stellar 72 car field assembled at the 3/8-mile facility on the banks of the Ohio River to compete in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season finale, which once again boasted a gigantic $100,000 windfall. On Friday night, Rod Conley had the best showing of the trio by finishing fourth in his first heat race of the evening prior to scoring a victory in his second and final prelim. After accumulating the tenth most passing points to earn the outside of the fifth row for the start of Saturday's 100-lap headliner, "Hot Rod" ran inside of the top ten at times before his bald rear tires caused him to slip back to thirteenth at the checkered flag.

Delmas Conley also claimed a triumph in his first heat race on Friday before running sixth in his second heat race and fifth in Saturday night's consolation event. R.J. Conley, on the other hand, finished eighth in his first heat race, seventh in his second heat race, and fifth in both his B-Main and the $3,000 to win 'Jim Dunn Memorial' for non-qualifiers on Saturday. Unfortunately, Delmas and R.J. were both unable to make the start in the DTWC, which was eventually won by Josh Richards. Full results from the lucrative crown jewel weekend at PRP can be obtained by visiting www.lucasdirt.com.

With inclement weather already wiping out special events across the region on October 27-28, there will be no racing for the CMI teams this upcoming weekend. In fact, Delmas and R.J. Conley have most likely concluded their versions of the 2017 racing season. Rod Conley will soldier on and plans to head to Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio on Saturday, November 4 for the unsanctioned ‘Trick or Treat 25,’ which will pay $3,000 to win for Super Late Models.
