Another Week and Another Modified Win for Rodney Sanders

Happy, Texas (10/31/17) – For the second-straight week, Rodney Sanders parked his Wichita Tank Racing #20 Swan Energy MB Customs Modified in Victory Lane. His latest triumph came during the Midwest Dirt Track Championship at the historic Thunderbird Speedway.

“It felt like we had to pass a ton of cars to get it done, but we made it happen,” Sanders commented. “We overcame a pretty big number at the pill draw and passed some really good cars to get this win. It was a really strong weekend for us in the Super Late Model too. Thanks to everyone, who helped make it possible!”

Pulling double duty in the Super Late Model and Open Wheel Modified ranks, Rodney Sanders traveled to Thunderbird Speedway (Muskogee, Oklahoma) on Friday night for the Midwest Dirt Track Championship.

In a field of 23 Super Late Models, Sanders followed up the second-fastest time overall in qualifying with a third-place finish in his heat. Rolling off eighth for the $10,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday, Rodney improved five spots to place third behind Jesse Stovall and Billy Moyer Jr. with Kyle Beard and Payton Looney completing the Top-5 finishers.

In the Open Wheel Modified division, Sanders passed six cars in his heat race, registering a third-place finish. Earning a spot into the Dash, Rodney recorded a sixth-place finish, positioning him sixth on the starting grid for the feature on Saturday evening.

After working his way into a podium spot by lap-5, Sanders overtook Tyler Wolff following a restart on lap 6. Pulling away from the field in the remaining 14 circuits, Rodney Sanders cruised to his 11th win of the season with Chad Wheeler, Tyler Wolff, Joe Duvall, and Camden Perry completing the Top 5.

Sanders was awarded a $1,200 payday for his dominant performance in the 20-lap A-Main.
