Rodney Sanders Stays Hot in Modified Action; Duel in the Desert Next

Happy, Texas (11/06/17) – Rodney Sanders kept his recent winning streak alive and well over the weekend in his Wichita Tank Racing #20 Swan Energy MB Customs Modified.

His third-event win in as many weeks and his 12th of the season came on Friday night with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) at 81 Speedway.

Rodney Sanders invaded 81 Speedway (Park City, Kansas) on Friday night for the second-annual Park City Chisholm Trail Showdown presented by Kansas High Performance Racing Auction. With 45 Open Wheel Modifieds on hand for the two-day USMTS event, Sanders jumped one spot in his heat race to capture the 8-lap victory.

Rolling off fourth on the grid for the opening-night feature, Rodney overtook Adam Kates on the 10th lap and held off the field for the remaining 20 circuits to capture his 12th-win of the season and a $2,000 payday. Dereck Ramirez, Stormy Scott, Lance Town, and Zack VanderBeek completed the Top 5 finishers.

"The track was pretty top dominant," Sanders said. "I kind of got held up the first couple of laps but I didn't want to do anything stupid and was just biding our time."

Returning on Saturday night, Sanders passed five cars in his heat to place third. Earning the seventh-starting position for the $3,000-to-win finale, Rodney slipped two positions in the 40-lap affair, logging a ninth-place finish.

The mega event for IMCA Modifieds will find Sanders behind the wheel of Mike Wedelstadt’s #20. The race is headlined by a $7,777-to-win finale.
