Dennis Erb, Jr. Stars During World Finals at Charlotte; Looks to Repeat in National 100!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb Racing literally stole the show during the 11th edition of the 'World Finals' in front of a jammed-packed crowd at the state-of-the-art Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina on November 2-4! On Thursday night during World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series qualifying, Dennis Erb, Jr. wheeled his one-race-old Black Diamond Chassis to the second quickest lap in his group during both time trial sessions, which placed him on the pole of his heat races for the weekend. At the 4/10-mile speedplant on Friday evening, Dennis drove to a win in his stacked heat race and later passed leader Mike Marlar to officially lead laps 42 and 43 of the $12,000 to win, 50-lap headliner before knocking down a close runner-up performance behind only victor Brandon Sheppard.

A similar World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series show was then held at the Charlotte-area facility on Saturday and Dennis was able to finish one spot better to record his sixth triumph of the 2017 campaign! The Carpentersville, Illinois star once again won his heat race in preliminary action before starting fifth on the grid in the 50-lap 'World Finals' finale. Dennis was then able to overtake leader Mike Marlar in turn two on the 46th circuit and led the final handful of laps to claim the $12,000 windfall for one of his biggest career wins. Finishing behind his #28 machine at the checkered flag was Marlar, Jimmy Owens, Brandon Sheppard, and Tim McCreadie! “We have been working real hard – myself, Heather (Lyne), and just everyone associated with this race team have put a lot of time and effort into this,” exclaimed the soft spoken Erb following his head turning weekend. “Ever since we debuted this new Black Diamond car at Whynot, it has been fast right out of the box and we had a real good car the entire weekend at Charlotte. I think if I could have cleared (Mike) Marlar on Friday night and got up on the track where he was running maybe I could have held off (Brandon) Sheppard’s charge. But we came back on Saturday, tweaked on the car a little bit, and got even better and got the job done!”

The #28 team will look to continue their late-season surge on November 10-12 at the historic East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama. The 43rd Annual ‘National 100’ will be held at EAMS this upcoming weekend and the unsanctioned spectacular will once again feature three separate programs for the Super Late Models. A pair of $5,000 to win preliminary shootouts on Friday and Saturday will set the lineup for Sunday’s rich 100-lap finale, which boasts a $20,000 top prize. Dennis is the defending ‘National 100’ Champion and will be looking for his second straight race title this coming weekend.
