Race ended at almost Midnight EST,and I saw kids in the stands. Gonna be some cranky folks at work and school. My Dad and my wife and I went to the DTWC at Bluegrass in 2002. I was supposed to be off the Monday following the race, but got knocked out of that. The race was moved to Sunday, and didn't get over until late that night. I was working nights, but it still sucked having to drive all the way home with just a nap here and there and having to go to work that night. It was my birthday too. I sure didn't want to go to work that night for all those reasons.

Phenix City observes EST since Columbus,Ga is right across the border. Learned that from an ex co-worker of my wife from there.

That a good respond. can't blame any drive loaded up early. But with this new cars, have they made cars to sensitive. McDowell said he had a little hole in his nose and was pushing hard, he had get out the gas coming into corner. Would drives have the same problem if they had 90's and below front nose?

Might be like NASCAR where they change the aero so the drives have to actually drive the car.

Some of you guys are a trip. Its easy to say shoulda did this and shoulda did that while looking at your phone and knowing nothing more than the results. They had race cars and fans from all over the country, the weather cleared out, and the ended up with a managable race track. It took some time and some MEN who wanted to RACE. Sure it took some time also ,but I dont see where anybody can get off saying it was "unsafe".... it was hammer down, no doubt, but turn back to the Friday portion if you want to discuss unsafe and torn up cars. What happened to the days of putting on a show and winning a TROPHY being the goal?? I for some F'ed up reason enjoy the Phenix City Le Mans... but I know thats what it is going in. I understand being frustrated if you were a first timer (there or watching DoD), thats how it goes there every year so be prepared if you participate again. If there is a legitimate complaint to be had... they should have went straight into the slm race without track prep. It was slick bottom to top and racey all over demonstrated by close finishes all dam day. The only race that was a run away was crate...1 race out of that big a$s achedule.... If they hadnt found a way to race when the weather broke I would have likely took some time away from the place.

THANK YOU eams for getting the race in. Thats what we all came to see ,and you pulled it off for the fans. Stinks we didnt have support from some of them, maybe they will stay home next year and we have a full field of true racers.

Well said......imo the track wasn't that bad. I never saw any car get airborne like I have at some tracks.

I think they should let the slms run their feature toward the middle of the schedule, that would give them a better track and let them get outa there at a decent time.

Was their EMS on site during the National 100?

Was their EMS on site during the National 100?

I really cant answer fairly sir. If you're asking of an actual ambulance then I'll say not that I saw. They did have some police officer and some type rescue truck there all through the event. The track mentioned saturday that the people abored said truck were trained paramedic or ems. Outland said they faced some criticisms for not having an ambulance on site for the Friday night cruiser wreck so that was apparently the reasoning for the explaination. I DID see the police and rescue truck drive out of the infield during the rain delay ,but they made a left and drove away from the exit of the facility. At that point I lost track of them. I thought it was about to be called off when left the infield because it happened shortly after the discrepency with the transponder guy

Round here they won't let a car on the track until an ambulance is at least on it's way, near by.

Supposedly the actual paramedics and ambulance left during the rain delay.

Quote not working again.... CnB fan

I truely hope that is the reason, and I've got no reason to doubt your word. I guess you could say that it eludes to it ,but I wish he would have spelled that out better in the twitter post. From what I seen he doesnt even say that in responding to anyone complaining about the conditions (that were not out of hand). The track should be ashamed of themselves if the first responders were allowed to leave

Can't imagine a track taking that big of a risk... Surly if there was ems at eest Alabama they wouldn't leave before the end of the show? Thats a big liability issue!

Most in my area will not. Can remember many a times waiting for the ambulance to return before they would start the program back up. Most tracks don't want to pay for 2.

Never heard of any of the safety crew stunts except in the South. Though I’m sure there are some all over.

That stupid not having emergency responders at a track. Specially the condition at eams this pass weekend. Some of the best wheelmen where spinning and getting into each other more they usually do, some due to equipment failure because of track conditions. Glad nothing didnt, them guys stuck it out for chance get nice check and for the fans to see a crazy race.

CnB , the only time i have ever herd of no one having an ambulance when a car is on the track down here in the south , is from this bunch of jokers , when we went there back in the 90s and early 2000s , there would be 500 plus cars show up and money flying every where , they ruined that and now trying to save every dime , ITS THERE OWN DAM FAULT............

Oh yes they would. Lol. They always have. It's not state law in Alabama so they take advantage of it. They used to have a track owned ambulance that some folks that kinda knew the difference between an a$$hole and an elbow that were nothing more than track workers. It wasn't even legally allowed on the street.. it could only drive you to the parking lot outside to meet an actual ambulance..

How far away from the track is there a fire station with ems personnel?

Bout 3 miles away is the closest volunteer fire station. It's closer to 6 or 7 miles to the closest real fire station. Which I'm honestly not sure they go to the track because it's not actually in the Phenix City city limits.

Davenport told Dirt On Dirt that the absence of EMT's was one reason that he pulled in.

Like a few others, I remember races being delayed on several occasions in my area on over the years while waiting on EMT's.

I believe I heard about a similar situation to this weekend's at a sprint car show in Missouri a year or two ago. I think one or two drivers refused to race that night.

You didnt come off as pickin on us CnB. Facts are facts...

I was mad at a few of the drivers at first, but you cant blame them if emegency crews were not there. Those minutes between a high speed slm crash and first responders coming from miles down the road could mean someones life. Thats for bringing this to light fellas...I enjoy going to the track and not having to pull against someone.

That's correct, never been there. Just saying the best in the sport raced so evidently they knew profession ems wasn't too far away.

Or they just flat out decided to take their chances.

If the closest firehouse was a volunteer firehouse then it could have been quite a wait depending on if anyone was hanging out in the station when the call came in, and even then I'm not sure how "professional" the response would have been.

I wouldn't have let the volunteer firefighters give me an aspirin for a headache when I lived up in the eastern part of the state.

So, we know for sure that, no ems were on the grounds, correct?

Insurance doesn’t demand they be there, what about common sense?

Common sense tells me the guys who finished the race wouldn't take a gamble like that if they weren't sure, in the event they need ems, there wasn't trained ems pretty dam close by.But you’ve already invested 3-4 days in that debacle, so you’re going to roll the dice to try and make some money. Most would, some wouldn’t. I can see both sides, but I would not roll the dice.

Only reason Chesley Dixon lived is because his c*ckpit was uphill at Swainsboro.
