Ray Cook Claims Pair of Top Tens at Two Tracks on Same Day!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook, of Brasstown, North Carolina, started his November 10-11 weekend at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama, as he had plans of competing in the 43rd edition of the 'National 100.' On Friday night in the opening $5,000 to win prelim for the Super Late Models, Ray laid down the fifth quickest lap in Group B during time trials to earn the outside of the fifth row for the start of the 43-lap feature, which was eventually postponed to Saturday afternoon due to rough track conditions. Ray then tried to miss the holes and stay out of trouble during the main event and was able to emerge from the attrition-filled race in the ninth position.

The decision was then made to forego the remainder of the 'National 100' at EAMS and Ray instead left Alabama in hopes of making it to North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia on Saturday evening for a $3,000 to win unsanctioned Super Late Model showdown. The popular driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" made it to the track just in time to line up at the tail of the 30-lap headliner. During the course of the caution-free affair, Ray blitzed up inside of the top ten and eventually netted a solid sixth place performance. Full results from both Saturday races can be found online at www.eamsdirt.com and the North Georgia Speedway Facebook page.

The #53 Wynn Motorsports team will now set their sights on the 29th Annual ‘Gobbler’ on Saturday, November 18 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia. The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series will preside over the Super Late Model portion of the ‘Gobbler’ at the Chattanooga-area facility and a $5,000 paycheck will await the winner of the single-day shootout. Ray won the 2011 edition of the ‘Gobbler’ when it was held at Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee and will look to add another race title to his resume this coming weekend!
