Dennis Erb, Jr. Nabs Podium Finish at Rugged EAMS; Gateway Dirt Nationals Next!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. concluded his recent southern swing on November 10-12 with a visit to East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama for the 43rd edition of the 'National 100.' In Friday's $5,000 to win weekend opener, which spilled over to Saturday afternoon due to unsafe track conditions, Dennis qualified second fastest in Group A during time trials to earn the third starting spot for the 43-lap feature, but a hole in the radiator during Saturday's race dropped him to fourteenth in the final finishing order. At EAMS in Saturday night's $5,000 to win program, Dennis laid down the fifth quickest lap in Group A during qualifying and later wound up ninth in the final rundown of the rough and tumble 43-lapper.

By virtue of racking up the seventh most points during preliminary action, Dennis was in line to start seventh on the grid in Sunday evening's 'National 100,' which once again boasted a $20,000 paycheck and was delayed for hours due to rain. Dennis, who was the defending race winner and looking to repeat in the 100-lap affair, ran as high as second in the attrition-filled special and was the only driver not to pit for tires or any kind of repairs. The Carpentersville, Illinois native eventually placed third and on the podium alongside victor Dale McDowell and runner-up Scott Bloomquist. Dennis Erb Racing has no more events on their 2017 calendar until the 2nd edition of the ‘Gateway Dirt Nationals’ takes place on December 14-16 at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Things will kick off on the indoor dirt racing surface on that Thursday with a special “Race of Champions,” which pays $5,000 to the winner. Another $5,000 top prize will be on the line during the preliminary night on Friday before Saturday’s Championship race, which features a hefty $30,000 payday.
