Chris Ferguson Tops Georgia State Outlaw Championship

Mt. Holly, North Carolina (11/21/17) – Chris Ferguson pushed his 2017-win tally to seven on Saturday night, when he took his Diff-Tran Machining #22 K&K Trucking/ Rocket Chassis XR1/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model to Victory Lane at Screven Motor Speedway. The victory came during the facility’s annual Georgia State Outlaw Championship.

On Saturday night Chris Ferguson made the trip to Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia) to battle against a field of 22 entries in the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series sanctioned event. Laying down the fastest-time in qualifying, Ferguson earned the pole position for the Georgia State Outlaw Championship A-Main.

Jumping into the lead at the drop of the green flag, Chris held off a late-race charge from Casey Roberts to capture his seventh win of the season and a $5,000 payday.

Roberts, Brent Larson, Ross Bailes, and Johnny Pursley completed the Top 5 finishers in the 50-lap affair.

Sunday evening brought Ferguson to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina) for the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series season finale.

With 27 cars signed in for the Mike Duvall Memorial Blue-Gray 100, Chris landed a runner-up finish in his heat race behind Jonathan Davenport, positioning him sixth on the starting grid for the $15,000-to-win A-Main.

Jumping up two spots in the 100-lapper, Chris Ferguson reeled in a fourth-place finish behind Darrell Lanigan, Casey Roberts, and Brent Larson with Jimmy Owens coming in 5th.

“It was a really great weekend for our team at two tracks that I always enjoy racing at,” Ferguson said. “We were really good on Saturday night at Screven, and it felt awesome to get back to Victory Lane. Sunday we were just a little off, but I’ll still take a Top-5 finish against such a strong field of racers.”
