I know Eldora brings in most of the best late model drivers in the nation. Wouldn't it be cool for a one race shootout between both series ( top 12 in each series qualifies for a 100,000 to win race 10,000 to start ). Just a pipe dream. What are your thoughts.

Something of that sort happens at Charlotte every year. Money doesn't seem to be the object since a whos-who shows up there every year for $12,000.

Here's a thought.

1 event - either 1 day or 2 day show.
Lucas & Woo drivers in one set of heats and any other drivers that show up in another set of heats.
Draw for spots in heats or Qualify
Lucas / Woo Heats (4) 10 laps - Non Lucas / Woo heats (2-4) 10 laps
Lucas / Woo B-Main(s) 15 laps - Non Lucas / Woo B-Mains 15 laps
Top 2 from the B-Mains go to a last chance race & Top 2 go to A <> DRAW FOR SPOTS 15 laps
1 hour break for teams to work / set up their cars.
A-Main - 30 cars <> 15 Lucas / WOO & 15 Non Tour drivers
$30,000 win $3,000 start & 100 laps. $500 tow money.

I gather only Lucas and WOO will be invited? If so, I don't much care for the idea. Only well funded teams run those circuits. Reward the rich and shut out the very good regional drivers. Since both of those tours have been running, this would have excluded the World 100 winner, at least 3 times right off the top of my head. It would have excluded Birky, Mars, Moyer, Maylar, Madden, Boggs, Babb, McDowel and Pierce in the past. You aren't the best, unless you beat the best.

Well probably wouldn't be a good race if they started heads up. I mean it'd be BShepp, Madden, Clanton TMac Bloomer and Richards at the back of the pack. That'd be a good one to watch

Shouldn't be at Eldora regardless. Just a concept race

Something like this was pretty close to happening a few years back, but it never materialized. It was going to happen at two tracks, actually.

Yea they talked about this previously. Problem was they couldn't agree on most issues and it went away. Between eldora, knoxville, Port royal and florida you see a mix of guys from both series going head to head with your regional drivers tossed in depending on where and what. I feel you have 10 guys nationally that if they pull in the odds are it's going to be one of them.

I believe that one of the first races they had at the Dirt track at Charlotte was a Co sanctioned race between the 2 major sanctioning bodies. Only show up points were given. All of the big dogs were their and everything was right except the track conditions were AWFUL. The race was run in the spring the track was dusty and all rutted up and some drivers got injured from either rocks or pieces of the track. I know that Billy Moyer Sr. was one of those drivers and he said he would never come back.

I do not know if Moyer ever did race their again but I do know that he has not raced their recently...

Ok eldora 150 laps 125,000 to win any track like Fairbury 200 laps 125,000 to win..then there's no crying about who starts where u have plenty of time that will show who has best setup tire choice whatever...

You wanna see whose the best, but you punish the best and make them start last?CnB if you are the best the creme will rise I raced with guys who were fast starring on the front row but if they started 9th they finished 9th..part of being the best is being able to work through traffic..I can't rock with ur statement here...

When the discussions were had, the tours were far more even.

Right on and that would end the "they started on the front row of every race because they qualified good"

I'd pay good money to watch them Lucas boys do a full invert 50 lapper on a hammer down atomic

There was something like this with the HAV-A-TAMPA Series and STARS series for a few years at Florence on the North/South 100 weekend, I think it was on Thursday or Friday and paid $5,000/$10,000 to win.

Rather see this for regional drivers, Top 5 from each regional series. Winner get 125k or enough sponsors to run a full national tour the following season.
