Richmond (KY) Raceway Announces 2018 Schedule of Events

Richmond, KY – December 18, 2017 – Richmond Raceway new track owners and promoters Bill and Stacy Lupinos are pleased to announce the 2018 racing schedule of events at the 3/10 mile semi-banked clay oval known as “The Beast of the East”.

The 2018 racing season will get underway with a pair of open practices on Saturday March 31 and on Friday April 6. The 52nd Annual Season Opener at the track will take place on Saturday April 7 and will feature the track’s four weekly divisions of competition in action, with those being Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, KDRA Super Stocks, and KDRA Four Cylinders. The weekly events at Richmond Raceway for 2018 will see the Late Models racing for $1,200 to win, Open Wheel Modifieds racing for $800 to win, KDRA Super Stocks racing for $600 to win, and KDRA Four Cylinders racing for $400 to win.

The Late Model division will see numerous special events throughout the 2018 racing season, with a pair of $10,000 to win events on the schedule. The first $10,000 to win event will take place on Saturday May 19 as the 2nd Annual Mike Roland Memorial will take place and will be co-sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV and the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com, paying $10,000 to win. The other five-figure to win contest will be the track’s marque event, as the 31st Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial will take place on Saturday August 18 and will be sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com, paying $10,059 to win. Other special events for the Late Model division will see the 4th Annual Butch Shay Memorial on Saturday July 7 and will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Battle of the Bluegrass Series, paying $5,000 to win. Other extra-money to win events for the Late Models that are unsanctioned will include the June Jam on June 9 paying $1,500 to win and The Beast of the East Clash on Saturday September 29, paying $1,500 to win.

The Open Wheel Modified division will also several extra-money to win events as well in 2018, as the Modified Spring Shootout will take place on Saturday April 14 paying $1,200 to win, along with the Modified Mayhem event on Saturday July 21, also paying $1,200 to win. The Modifieds will also race for $1,000 to win at the Beast of the East Clash on Saturday September 29.

The KDRA Super Stocks will also be highlighted as well during the 2018 racing season, with the American Dirt Allstars returning to sanction the KDRA Super Stock Spring Fling on Saturday April 28, paying $1,000 to win. The 4th Annual Saturday Night Showdown will take place on Saturday June 23, again sanctioned by the American Dirt Allstars, also paying $1,000 to win. The KDRA Super Stocks will race for $750 to win at The Beast of the East Clash season finale on Saturday September 29.

The KDRA Four Cylinder division will round out the racing cards at Richmond Raceway in 2018 and will also see some special events, with the first one being the Four Cylinder Fury event that will be sanctioned by the newly-founded American Dirt Allstars Four Cylinders, paying $750 to win. The KDRA Four Cylinders will also race for $750 to win at the 4th Annual Saturday Night Showdown on Saturday June 23, along with a $500 to win special as part of The Beast of the East Clash on Saturday September 29.

A press release with rules for the 2018 racing season will be upcoming in the near future as well, with very few changes expected for the new season.
