I'm currently looking for a new transmission and been using a turbo 350 but want something better. The rules state no bert style transmissions and automatics must use a working torque converter. So i'm between a TCI powerglide or a tonganoxie saginaw 2 speed. The track is a 1/4 mile not a lot of banking with about 400 hp.
Which one would you choose or is there something better out there?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Just get a Muncy 4 speed and the right gears to run it in high gear.

I would take the saginaw and the lightest flywheel and clutch allowed.....

We had a lot of success years ago, with a Tucker powerglide. Winning late models were using them as well.

Bushore direct drive powerglide with a dummy converter, put a qt of fluid in it thru the pipe plug they have in them for that purpose. That meets your rules. And is by far the best solution for throttle response and hp to the rear wheels.

your welcome... very good guys, shop and service. I NEVER changed the fluid in mine, EVER... rebuilt about 150 nights is all. I know a lot of guys change the fluid constantly and it seemed to me they have more issues. I always used reverse etc. no babying
