When you get a set done by the cnc machine shoud you have to do any work to the bowl area around the valves

You shouldn't have to. However some builders take it a few steps further and do some handwork.

a lot probably depends on fuel being used, and how smooth the CNC program was in the cutting process.

gas you could smooth up a bit with a pointed emery paper style tool
Alky or e-85 you an leave a little more on the rough side to keep the larger amount of fuel running through port atomized.

depends on engine builder preferences really.

Cheap heads sold with a cnc port often only get a basic port match plus. A good program will do the bowls, too.

Have yet to see a CNC head that could not be improved with a little hand work
