Sort of mimics my schedule. Skipping Golden Isles but doing all week at East Bay, Bubba on Sunday, and 3 or 4 nights at Volusia.

If you had to pick between the midgets or usac at Bubba, which one puts on the better race. im going to break away one night to watch one of those.

If you had to pick between the midgets or usac at Bubba, which one puts on the better race. im going to break away one night to watch one of those. To my knowledge the midgets have not raced at BRP so there really is no past references with which to compare. If the midgets have raced at BRP it was well before Bubba The Love Sponge bought the track.

We've attended BRP for nearly every USAC Sprint car event they've ever run down there going back to the first time USAC had it on their schedule and the racing has been consistently very good. Not saying there hasn't been a couple of bad ones but the overwhelming majority have been good shows.

The ASCS winged 360's will be coupled with the POWRi National Midgets at BRP and we expect there to be a very good ASCS car count but we really don't know what to expect from the POWRi National Midgets. Most of the POWRi guys don't particularly like to travel too far and we're a little apprehensive as to car count. Given this is POWRi's first foray to Florida we'll be there to support the two midget shows on the Speedweeks schedule but they're an unknown commodity at this point.

Bottom line is this, the USAC Sprint Cars are tried and true and definitely dependable at BRP and if I had just one night to attend an open wheel race there, given the circumstances, it would be the USAC Sprint Cars.

Let me know what you decide and if the USAC Sprint Cars are your choice maybe we'll see you there!

Most likely it will be the usac race. Ive been wanting to go to one for several years now but couldn't break away from the dlms.

Bubba is my favorite local track and as long as it doesn't get too wet it usually provides great racing.

btw.....my dad used to be the flagman there in the late 60's and I remember being up in the flagstand watching the old sportsman modified races!

I've heard it called Little Darlington due to its egg shape. Turns 1 & 2 are bad fast. It has to be a tricky compromise in regards to set up.

25, I don't think you'll disappoint yourself by taking a night off from the DLM's. While the DLM's put on a superb show at all three of the Florida venue's the wingless USAC Sprint Cars most likely won't cause you to lament the fact you didn't opt for Volusia and the WoOLMS and the big blocks.

Cool memory, too. That had to be a gas being in the flagman's perch.

thanks this is my 1 big vacation that we take annually. we have relatives that live in the Daytona beach area so we go down and stay with them.Old84, all my wifes' family lives in Port Orange and Edgewood. We stay with them the nights we go to races at Ocala and Volusia. We get a room near Tampa the nights we go to East Bay. It's just too long of a drive back to the Daytona area after the races get over at EB and going through Orlando is a HUGE pain, even in the middle of the night!!

If you're familiar with the Daytona Beach metro area then you probably have spent a little time at The North Turn located directly on the beach down in Ponce Inlet! I get a pound of steamed shrimp every time I go there. Very cool place with all kinds of racing pictures and memorabilia!

CIRF, sounds like a great trip! And to end it in the Florida Keys....have fun stay safe! Thanks for the kind words and warm wishes, FreeBird. It's been quite a while since we've been able to be in Florida as long as we are going to be this year and we're really looking forward to it. We're very lucky in that we have a free place to stay with the inlaws in Daytona and we are good friends with some folks that own a small place in Islamorada down on the Keys and they let us stay there for free, as well. They normally aren't there when we are so we have the place all to ourselves. We'll be in Florida 12 days, altogether.

Speaking of Eastbay.....can the rooms get any more expensive! They keep going up and up!

At least the ticket prices have stayed the same! I got a dirty look when I told the attendant I thought I was at DIS, according to the price of their pit pass!

Have fun on your stay here in the Sunshine State. Its nice to be a native and can drive back and forth from most of the tracks.

Its nice to be a native and can drive back and forth from most of the tracks. The way our time in Florida worked out this year we won't be going to East Bay. We're going to sacrifice the EB late models for the POWRi/ASCS show at BRP just to see how things go. You're right about the room prices near EB. We usually try and find a place back east a few miles on I-4 towards Orlando but they're still plenty pricey.

We're going to try and squeeze in part of a day at the Florida State Fair again this year. We've done the Fair thing several times but it's been a while. Nice way to spend a day. Wish they hadn't done away with the racetrack at the fairgrounds. I remember back in the mid to late 1980's we watched the USAC Silver Crown car's and the WoO Sprint Cars at the fairgrounds during the State Fair.

We envy you living year round in The Sunshine State! Hopefully we'll reach a point where we can spend the winters down there following Christmas & New Years 'till sometime in April. That's many years off but that's our goal.

This will be my 22nd year going to Eastbay. My favorite racetrack. Good racing, facilities, and food....esp the strawberry shortcake!

I've never been to the fair but it looks pretty popular!I know it brings a lot of people in as the motels get filled up by them.

In the late 80's me and my dad was on a business trip in the Tampa area on a Friday night. We found out about the Fairgrounds track and checked it out. They ran 7 classes of cars and were done by 10:30. We talked all the time about how good of racing that place was.
