What the heck happened to Boom Briggs?

Didn't show it, from how mad he was I gotta assume something like a ball joint, bolt or something didn't get tightened and/or was an assembly problem or something.

Thanks. I'm watching as well and was wondering how the heck he could have wrecked when they were barely moving unless something broke. Appreciate the insight.

I found it odd that Owens and Lanigan were just riding around at the back in their heat. Owens wasn't even on the front straight when the heat started. I know his Q time got DQ'd for missing the scales, but I doubt he was so ticked he just didn't try. Something was strange there.

Tonight was a perfect example of why provisionals are a vital part of racing in a series. Not just for Richards but for several other guys also. It was also a total flip flop of racing surfaces too. Cutting the track and putting a monsoon worth of water on it was not the answer. Last night was the best surface I can remember there being at GIS. Sorry but they stepped on their Johnson tonight. Lucas definitely didn’t hold up the show. They did a quick four wide salute and turned the field loose. There was a brief wait, maybe a minute, while Don O’Neal’s car was worked on in the hot pit area.

I was watching on Lucas TV. I didn't see it that way. He was the last car on the track but he didn't hold up the show. It showed him several times at the track entrance when the other cars were on the track. Once the cars started rolling he came out. Seems like they field made a lap and he came out.

They jumped the cushion with the water... it was a bit too much. BUT last night was not that great of a surface. THrowing the water on before the feature really helped; but top still went away. What made the race was Josh unable to stay hooked on the bottom on exit.

If they can hit it in the center now that they know what they did both nights; then we the fans might win big league.

Some people on fb saying lucas held the show up a good while to let richards get out there. Any truth to that? I few minutes I dont see nothing wrong with that...

Also watching on LOR.TV ... nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

Wait....hold the press.
All this talk about the track, blah, blah, blah.

Boom Briggs finished 9th!!! After the disaster he had earlier in the evening, that's a big moral victory for that team. Atta boy Boom. A top 10 for a guy who may have had the worst racing luck ever in '17.

Nice runs by the WoO youngsters...T. Erb and Larson.

Total horse poo (can we use poo or is that a violation now??) that Hudson O'Neal couldn't use an emergency provisional tonight. Kid's gonna be out on tour all season long and any chance he had of making noise in the points went right out the window on night #2 of the season b/c of what happened last year!?!? I know people don't like provisionals, but how they're determined early in the season for fully commited tour drivers is moronic. Seriously, like one more car on that track tonight would've been the straw that broke the camels back.

Congrats to Richards and crew. Whether you like him or not, you have to appreciate coming from the very tail and winning. No mater who it is!!!!

Yep. He made everyone look silly tonight.

I agree on all points, however the rules are the rules. I hate it for Hudson, but that's how the rules are written. Oh well.

I know a lot of folks seem to not like him him but heck I have got to like ol Kyle Bronson I hope he can make some noise on the tour this year. I know he did some stuff years ago that was unacceptable but hey I'm sure most of us has done boneheaded crap to we are ashamed of so I definitely hope that's all out of his system nowadays.

I respect that though man, you gave props even when you didn’t want him to do well. He drove his butt off and earned it. Josh is a wheelman, and man is he starting out purdy good.

Track was terrible tonight.

The winner passed the entire field. That doesn't sound very much like terrible track conditions. Just saying.

Sorry but the track was terrible tonight. Yes Josh started in the back and won. Several guys that started near the tail and moved forward. Never stated anything about that. The track was WFO for 60 laps. Could have been 160 laps and it would still be that way. It had WAY too much traction in it all night. The heats were single file on the cushion. Tracks prepped like that are engine killers and car killers. Look at how many finished. The racing was better on night 1 because it wasn't wide open. JS

Everybody was on her complaining about how bad the race track was you couldn't pass on it now you can pass and it is too rough I had lot rather see a rough track you can pass on than a one lane track.

Hoosier_Dirt

Jameson had overheating/motor trouble and flat tires Friday night. Not sure last night, it was chaos for most. I think once they get some time on it they'll be good, looked good qualifying.

You can say what you want about the track, but there was more passing, this week end, than I can remember since the track was built. The loads of clay helped a lot. Not saying it's a great track, but it is looking up.

Josh passed most of those drop outs on the track. It wasn't just attrition.

The track was great both nights. It was moist and hooked up last night, but it wasn’t rough. I’ve seen far, far worse tracks than that. It sure didn’t bother Richards, Bronson or Tyler Erb.

How can ya knock on a track when someone comes from the tail to win???

The only thing that maybe the track could have done was to knock down that cushion. It looked pretty brutal. Davenport really got burnt when he pushed up and rolled the nose under. That shouldn't happen at the beginning of a race in my opinion. I gotta give him credit for limping that thing home in 10th.

Agree.....you know theres an issue when Josh and Randall voiced their concerns over hurting another motor due to the conditions!

Did anybody else but me, thought Brent Larson had a good weekend? He was the biggest surprise both nights.

TerryM
02-04-2018, 01:28 PM
My opinion is from a fan in the bleachers perspective. The fans loved it both nights. I fully understand the wear on equipment and motors on a heavy track. If I was a car owner, I'd want the track dryer. As a fan, I just want to see passing.

The problem is when drivers complain because the track is too dry, as they did after the race Friday night. Davenport said they needed to tear up the track and soak it. So that's what they did Saturday morning. Then the sun went away and it stayed wet. They had 60 cars on the track trying to dry it out.

The effort was made to appease the drivers, but it's not an exact science and never will be. Bottom line is, you can't please everyone. Somebody is going to complain, regardless what you do.

You shouldn't ever complain about too much water in a racetrack when in this day in age track prep is usually pretty lazy.

Lazy?!?!?!? My definition of lazy is a track or sanctioning that drowns the track like that and then makes the premier class pack the track with our $100k plus race cars for almost 30 minutes!!!

Have not seen the race yet anyway, but if any track that has decent moisture is terrible then I hope you have a horrible season, filled with tacky hammer down races!!! hahahahaaa

Why in the he!! would you have an engine in the car that you're "trying to get 1 more race out of" on the 2nd night of Speed weeks (the season). I call B.S. covering for Durham.

The rest of the Lucas guys may be in trouble by the time they head out of Florida. Points chase might be over with in the first two weeks of the season if Josh keeps it up, he's darn good at Eastbay too.
