CARTERSVILLE, GA – North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL has added NeSmith Racing’s newest weekly division for 2018, the Crate Racin’ USA Modified Sportsman Division Powered by Chevrolet Performance. This new Division is another economical one for America’s Leader In Racing with an option to run the Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine, and an economical shock package.

Crate Racin’ USA Modified Sportsman Division competitors at North Alabama Speedway will run for a Track Point Fund, and a National Point Fund based on their best 14 finishes during a 27-week season. The Top 10 drivers in the 2018 National point standings will be honored at the NeSmith Racing Weekly Racing Series Awards Banquet at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA.

The Crate Racin’ USA Modified Sportsman Division joins the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Models, the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division, and the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman as Weekly Racing Series Divisions at North Alabama Speedway. North Alabama Speedway joins Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and Camden Speedway in Camden, TN committed to running all four NeSmith Racing Weekly Racing Series Divisions.

“There has been a lot of interest in the Crate Racin’ USA Modified Sportsman Division among the competitors here at North Alabama Speedway,” Track Promoter Brian Mitchell said. “Within a 20-mile radius of the track, there are six new cars being built and others coming out of retirement to convert their cars to meet the rules.”

Mitchell is committed to the growth of North Alabama Speedway and sees the Crate Racin’ USA Modified Sportsman Division playing an important role in that growth. Mitchell sees more competitors coming to North Alabama Speedway because they can run more than one division.

“I think for 2018, we’ll start out with a ten-car field of Crate Racin’ USA Modified Sportsman, but I feel it will grow as the season progresses,” Mitchell said. “A majority of the drivers in the class will also run one of the other three NeSmith Racing Weekly Racing Series Divisions. I think the majority of the competitors will start out running the Open Engine option because that’s what they already have in the shop, but as they use up their open motors, they’ll which over to the less-expensive 602 engine.”

The steel-block, steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track engine is an optional engine for not only the Crate Racin’ USA Modified Sportsman, but also for the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Models, and the NeSmith Performance Street Sock Division. It is the exclusive engine in the NeSmith Late Model Sportsman Division.

The Engine Rules in the Crate Racin’ USA Modified Sportsman and the NeSmith Performance Street Stock Division allow the 602 Engine to run a four barrel carburetor and the Open Engines must run with a two barrel carburetor. Both Divisions will run on the Hoosier H500 Racing Tire.

The Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine is available at NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA for $3,595 with free next day delivery anywhere in the Southeast. The Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine is the engine of choice in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division.
