Not looking to incriminate anyone, but how are some of you going about getting rid of your used tires?

I live in the Land of Lincoln, so there are fees on top of fees (state regulated, but maybe even federal under the E.P.A.). And I'm not opposed to paying, but most tire dealers aren't very receptive to my inquiries because they didn't sell me tires in the first place.

Just wondering if someone's had luck with a national chain store, or any other suggestions.

As always, thanks in advance!

Put them on Craigslist. Street-strip people like them.

We have a county run recycling center here that will take them for $2 each

I donated a bunch to a local obstacle course to use as hazards. The rest I burn.

I give/ sell to guys in lower classes. If no good, I typically mix with some brush/grass clippings or downed limbs, burn at night so no black smoke.

put old tires out in the front yard with a for sale sign, they will be gone by morming.

My local garbage recycler, under contract, has to pick up 5 per week!

My trashman takes 2 from my curb every week I put them out. I've put up to 4 out and they were gone (although 2 is supposed to be the limit).

I'm lucky. Our superstock guys run them when we are done with them.

I ended up going to Walmart and couldn't have had a better experience! I let them pile up last year, so I had 23 total. They made a comment but really just out of sarcasm. $1.50 a tire and I was probably out of there in 10 minutes.

Thanks again for all the suggestions!

I work for a major tire company. I just take ours to work and throw them in our tire bin. lol

The state charges us $1.75 recycle fee for each passenger tire bought, then the dump get $3-4 when you turn 'em in. ??? I put most of our race tires around the sprinkler risers on our ranch to keep the horses and sheep from breaking them. Every year I'm looking for more land. LOL

Mark them with your nemesis's car number and leave them in the pits? JK

In Missouri you can cut em up like a bagel and put them in the trash.

Leave them at the race track. If the promoters want to pay schitty purses then they can take my old tires. Fair is Fair. Just make sure to set your old tires in front of somebody else's tow rig so they don't think they are yours! :-)
