CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and Greenville Speedway officials have announced the postponement of the National Tour’s 2018 season opening “Rumble On The Gumbo” scheduled to be held this weekend due to wet conditions at the Greenville, MS facility and a high percentage of more rain this Friday night and Saturday night.
A rescheduled date for the Rumble On The Gumbo will be announced soon by both NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and Greenville Speedway officials. The rescheduled dates will feature the same format that was scheduled for this weekend with a 40-lap $2,000-to-win race on a Friday night, and a 50-lap $2,500-to-win race on a Saturday night.
“I spoke with Greenville Speedway Promoter Wesley Washington today and he said the grounds at the track are already saturated from earlier rains, and it would be at least a day or two before they could even get to the racing surface to work it for a race this weekend,” NeSmith Racing Competition Director Adam Stewart said. “With a high percentage of rain forecast for this weekend, we both agreed it would be best to postpone this weekend’s races to another weekend later in the season. Those dates will be announced in the next day or two.”
That will move the 2018 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour season opener to Friday night, April 20 at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN. The first-ever NeSmith Late Model National Touring event at Camden Speedway will be 40-laps and $2,000-to-win. The NeSmith Late Models will move to North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL on Saturday night, April 21 for a 50-lap $2,500-to-win race.
