World of Outlaws coming to Smoky Mountain Speedway April 26-28

Maryville, Tennessee - The Outlaws are coming to the Smoky Mountains. The World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series invade Smoky Mountain Speedway on April 26-28 for a pair of $10,000 to win races in the annual Tennessee Tip-Off.

The race weekend was originally scheduled for March 8-10. Bad weather forced the event to be rescheduled.

Action gets under way on Thursday, April 26 with an open practice session for all competitors. Pit gates will open at 4:00 and the open practice goes from 6:00 until 9:00. Pit admission is $20 per person. The grandstands and tier parking will be open at 5:00 for $5 per person.

Racing action starts on Friday, April 27 with a full program of time trials, heat races, B-mains, and a 50-lap main event for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Models where $10,000 awaits the winner. The Kajun Mini Stocks will also be racing for $1,000 to win in a program of time trials, heat races, and their main event.

Racing continues on Saturday, April 28 with another full program of World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series action where another $10,000 goes to the winner. The Kajun Mini Stocks will race for $1,500 to win.

There will be a huge fireworks show on both nights of racing.

On Saturday, April 28, the 2017 Smoky Mountain Speedway Hall of Fame class will be recognized. Ronnie Romines, Guy Merritt, Darrell Parrott, Ray Dedrick, and Gerald "Peg Leg" Laws were previously inducted at a private ceremony in November. This will be the first opportunity for the hall of fame class to be recognized at the track in front of fans and family. The ceremony will take place at 6:00.

There will also be an autograph session on Saturday, April 28 for the fans to meet and greet their favorite drivers that will be racing at Smoky Mountain Speedway this weekend.

World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series drivers that will be in attendance include defending series champion Brandon Sheppard, Brandon Overton, Chris Madden, Mike Marlar, Shane Clanton, Rick Eckert, Billy Moyer Jr., Chris Ferguson, Tyler Millwood, Morgan Bagley, Devin Moran, Tyler Erb, Timothy Culp, Brent Larson, Rusty Schlenk, Chase Junghans, and David Breazeale.

Other national and regional drivers expected are Dale McDowell, Vic Hill, Shanon Buckingham, Ray Cook, Billy Ogle Jr., Casey Roberts, T.J. Reaid, Chub Frank, Tommy Kerr, Robby Moses, and more.

Pit gates will open on Friday, April 27 at 2:00. Grandstand and tier parking gates open at 4:00. If traffic begins to back up, tier parking will open sooner than the advertised time. Grandstand tickets are $30 for adults, kids 6-11 are $5, and kids 5 and under are free. Tier parking tickets are $35 for adults, kids 6-11 are $10, and kids 5 and under are free. Pit passes are $40 for adults, kids 11 and under are $20. The driver's meeting is scheduled for 6:30 followed by racing action.

Smoky Mountain Speedway is located 12 miles south of Maryville, Tennessee. From Maryville, take Highway 411 south for 10 miles and turn left onto Brick Mill Road. Follow Brick Mill Road for approximately 2 miles, the racetrack is on the right. The first entrance is for grandstand parking. The second entrance is for tier parking and campground access. The pit entrance is the next right on Crye Road. The physical address for the track is 809 Brick Mill Road in Maryville, Tennessee.

Thursday's practice has been cancelled as more rain is expected for Thursday. Friday's and Saturday's forecast look great and both night are on as scheduled.
