SOUTHERN ALL STAR DIRT RACING SERIES PR#16

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Southern All Stars Adjust Schedule For May 26th

FAYETTEVILLE, TN—The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series presented by Max Fab will not be in making their first appearance at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, TN., since 1995 as the speedway management has decided to cancel the Memorial Day Classic 40 that was set to run on May 26th.

The event will now take place on May 26th at the North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL., and that is one week earlier than when the Southern All Stars were supposed race at the northwest Alabama track and it will be 40 laps paying $4,000 to win.

North Alabama track promoter Brian Mitchell said “This was an easy decision to make as he originally wanted that date for the series, but waited too late and it was already booked, so when contacted about the date again he said let’s book it.” “The Southern All Stars has been around for 35 years and they were the choice of regional series to get as everybody is familiar with them. They will bring you a good field of cars and that is what the people of North Alabama Speedway have been after me about and that is a super late model race here and so we are doing it on May 26th.”

The Southern All Stars will also be returning to one of the original series track when it all started in 1983 as North Alabama Speedway held the 4th race ever in the series and that race was won by legendary Bruce, MS., driver Jerry Inmon.

The Southern All Stars are back in action May 19th at the Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA., for the Mayhem 40 paying $4,000 to win.

What was Winchester’s reason for canceling?

I was at the races last Saturday night at Winchester Raceway, and did not hear the announcer say one word about the Special Event being cancelled for May 26th, but I know it is cancelled according to SAS

Don't hold your breath DC. Sas"PR" is good for their announcements and that's about it

It’s crazy. But I wanna know why? SAS or Harris needs to explain to us fans what the deal is. Why no race at Winchester.

I'm with ya. I was gonna go. I think there was some dispute over tire choises last year at duck river when their stuff got cancelled. Now, if that guy on the duck river thread is right about spurgeon being out maybe sas canned those races since they would be working with Harris instead

Very cool to see NAS get a super late model race this season. The track seems to be humming along right now and I'm sure this race will be a success.

The races at Duck River and Winchester were going to be promoted by Ricky Spurgeon as they were the four races that we had scheduled at Thunderhill until he lost his lease with them. Ricky is out and from what I have been told Bob will go back to his original schedule for both places he put out at the first part of the year.

I know what the bottom line is and that is money. Bob brought Ricky in to promote Duck River as he was impressed by what Ricky was doing at Thunderhill. Ricky had four SAS races at Thunderhill scheduled and then he got the lease pulled from him at Thunderhill by a text message from the Hibitts. Ricky tells Bob he wants to put on his SAS shows at Duck River and Winchester, two at each track, Ricky gets his dates he wants and then it comes on SAS schedule as it has been years since the series has raced at either facility. Everybody that was on the series was talking about how long Ricky would be at there until Bob takes it back from him and the consensus among the regulars was after Ricky makes money on first SAS race then Bob will get rid of him, well we now see what has happened and I guess we were right, Duck had a good crowd and good car count and I am sure they made some money with the SAS but now we have to suffer through more miss management of another dirt track in middle Tennessee. Why do you think so many guys from that area are racing with SAS, one thing they thought they were going to have some races close to the house and second of all not much to choose from in the area to race. I applaud North Alabama for stepping up and moving their date back and I know that SAS and North Alabama are working on a couple of more deals that might happen so that would be great for us super fans in the area.
