Billy Moyer Records Second Win of ‘18 in Impromptu Trip to Pevely; Close Runner-Up at Farmer City

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Billy Moyer claimed his second feature win of the 2018 racing season on Saturday evening, May 12 in an impromptu trip to Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri! After the $10,000 to win 'FALS Frenzy' special was rained-out early in the afternoon at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois, Billy wound up at Pevely to enter the Super Late Model weekly event. Billy started third and finished third in his heat race, but later stormed to the front in the feature from his sixth starting position. The Batesville, Arkansas superstar led the final ten laps or so to record the $1,200 victory over Nick Hoffman, Logan Martin, Jeff Herzog, and Gordy Gundaker!

A night earlier on Friday, May 11, a $10,000 top prize was on the line in the 'Farmer City 74' at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois. Billy scored the victory in his loaded heat race to earn the pole position in the MARS Racing Series-sanctioned main event. During the course of the 74-lap contest, the popular driver known as "Mr. Smooth" led the first 73 circuits before his familiar #21 machine was passed coming off of turn four by eventual winner Shannon Babb. In a heartbreaking photo finish, Billy was forced to settle for a very close runner-up performance in the 'Farmer City 74.' Full results from both weekend shows can be viewed online at www.marsracingseries.com and www.i55raceway.com.

Following the impressive one-two weekend finish, the Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team is slated to take the upcoming May 18-19 weekend off to build a new Victory Race Car by Billy Moyer. The next event on their racing calendar will be the 26th Annual Lucas Oil ‘Show-Me 100’ at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri from May 24-26. A pair of $6,000 to win preliminary events on Thursday and Friday of Memorial Day weekend will set the stage for Saturday’s grand finale, which boasts a whopping $30,000 payday. Billy is a three-time winner of the storied ‘Show-Me 100,’ as he grabbed the checkers in the crown jewel event in 1993, 1994, and 1996 when it was held at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, Missouri.
