Jimmy Mars a Strong Seventh in $100k Dirt Late Model Dream; Modified Masters Next!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team traveled to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from June 7-9 to compete in the annual running of the 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' After Thursday night's $5,000 to win prelim show was washed out until Friday afternoon, Jimmy Mars placed fourth in his heat race prior to advancing up to eleventh in the 25-lap daytime affair. Later that evening, Jimmy ran fifth in heat race action and later blasted past seven competitors during the $10,000 to win headliner on his way to a steady tenth place performance.

At the "Big E" on Saturday, all eyes were focused on capturing the $100,000 top prize in the 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' Jimmy won his loaded heat race, which enabled him to start the 100-lap crown jewel extravaganza from the inside of the second row. After moving up to second early in the distance, the Menomonie, Wisconsin star eventually finished seventh in the extra-distance contest in part due to a twisted axle and trailed only winner Scott Bloomquist, Dale McDowell, Jonathan Davenport, Bobby Pierce, Chris Madden, and Tim McCreadie at the unfurling of the checkered flag. Complete results from the soggy weekend at Eldora Speedway can be viewed online at www.eldoraspeedway.com.

Jimmy will jump behind the wheel of one of his potent MB Customs Open Wheel Modifieds this weekend (June 14-16), as the 2nd Annual ‘Modified Masters’ takes center stage at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. The largest event purse on the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) schedule will kick off later this evening at CLS and a $2,500 winner’s check will be on the line. Friday will see drivers compete in two sets of heat races, which will set the lineups for Saturday’s last chance qualifiers and the 70-lap championship finale. The winner of the ‘Modified Masters’ on Saturday night will bring home a cool $40,000 payday, while each feature starter will receive at least $2,000 for their efforts.

Jimmy wound up fourth in the final finishing order of last year’s rain-hampered ‘Modified Masters’ at Cedar Lake Speedway and will look to finish a few spots better and contend for the win this weekend.
