Ricky Weiss Back in Victory Lane with NLRA at River Cities

Headingly, Manitoba, Canada (06/19/18) – Ricky Weiss topped a talented field of racers on Friday night to take his Derrick’s Sandblasting #7w Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Vic Hill Race Engine Late Model to Victory Lane at River Cities Speedway.

The win was his eighth of 2018.

“I can’t say enough about our team and all of the hard work that everybody is putting in,” Weiss said. “It’s no easy feat to win a weekly show at River Cities Speedway, and it’s especially tough to win a special. We had some really good competition there, but our car is really on point right now. Thanks to all of our sponsors and supporters for helping to make my racing program possible.”

Friday night found Ricky Weiss in action at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota), where he was competing in a field of 22 Super Late Models with the Northern Late Model Racing Association sanctioned contest.

Jumping two spots in his 8-lap heat race, Weiss recorded a runner-up finish behind Donny Schatz, positioning him sixth on the starting grid for the feature. Wheeling his way into a podium spot by the third lap, Ricky slipped past Donny Schatz for the lead on lap-6 with 19 circuits remaining.

Building a comfortable lead after a restart, Ricky Weiss held off a hard-charging Dustin Strand in in final five laps to pick up his eighth win of the season and a $1,200 payday.

Strand, Mike Balcaen, Bill Mooney, and Donny Schatz completed the Top-5 finishers in the 25-lap affair.

Saturday’s NLRA sanctioned event at Devil’s Lake Speedway (Lakota, North Dakota) was rained out by Mother Nature.
