Rod Conley Runner-Up in Boone Coleman Gator 50; Readies for Trip to Atomic
(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) All three Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) drivers converged on the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday evening, June 16 to compete in the annual running of the 'Boone Coleman Gator 50.' Rod Conley led the charge, as he finished second in his heat race and a strong runner-up in the $5,000 to win headliner behind only victor Brandon Fouts. His brother R.J. Conley placed fourth in his heat race prior to battling back from a flat tire in the A-Main to salvage a sixth place showing. Delmas Conley, the patriarch of the Conley racing clan, ran fifth in his loaded heat race and later started/finished ninth in the 'Boone Coleman Gator 50.' Two of the three CMI pilots are scheduled to return back to Portsmouth Raceway Park this Saturday night, June 23. Delmas and R.J. Conley will vie for the $2,000 top prize at PRP in the weekly Super Late Model program. Rod Conley, on the other hand, is slated to venture about an hour north to Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio for another weekly Super Late Model show, which also boasts a $2,000 payday.
