AUGUST 25TH – LAWRENCEBURG SPEEDWAY – HORNET NATIONALS

The Bessler’s U Pull & Save Hornets headline the “Hornet Nationals” on Saturday night August 25th at the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind. This will be the largest paying hornet event ever held at the Burg, paying $1,500 to win and $200 to start the feature.

There are no entry fees to participate in this event, but the driver and car must have competed in at least two prior point races at Lawrenceburg Speedway during the 2018 season to qualify to enter. There are just three point races remaining to meet this quota:

June 30th – CDL Night at the Races

August 4th – Jason Soudrette Memorial

August 18th – D ick Gaines Memorial

There have been sixty hornet drivers compete at Lawrenceburg Speedway so far this season and thirty-two of those drivers have already qualified for the “Hornet Nationals.”

Headlining the list of qualified drivers is defending track champion, and current point leader, Cordell Moore. In five races this season Moore has two feature wins, a third and fifth place finish. The only race Moore doesn’t have a top-five finish in was opening night when he broke while leading the feature and did not finish. Moore has been quick all night winning his heat race each night out.

Bradley Eberhart, Gary Whitt, Michael Freimuth II, and John Hampton round out the top five in the current season standings and all four have also qualified for the big money race. Eberhart was the feature winner on opening night, and between the four drivers, they have eighteen top ten finishes so far this year.

The only other driver besides Moore and Eberhart to visit Budweiser Victory Lane is the most recent Bessler’s U Pull & Save Hornet feature winner Matthew Morris. Morris will need to compete in at least one more race before becoming eligible for the “Hornet Nationals.”
