He will be in a Longhorn chassis. Can’t wait to see him on the track again.

He’s driving for Jason Rauen. Same car as last year when he made an appearance to help Rauen and his boys pack the stands.

Last time I saw the car was here in AZ. EPJ jumped in it for a few nights. Would assume it has the best of everything. Either way, be great having Birky at the track. Huge deal for those guys promoting the event.

May be the same car that Chris Simpson ran so good in down in Mississippi last year. #98 Think it was the fall classic at whynot. 2nd to SB

BirkyTime, are you sure its a longhorn? Most of Rauens cars are BlackDiamond. Ah who cares right. Just as he runs. :)

BirkyTime15B

Yes, it’s the same cars that EPJ is running.

EPJ is running BlackDiamond by Stuckey.

He had 1 of them out and raced it locally. EPJ raced 2 races with it that I know of.

Title of Thread said Dubuque. Didn't mention Deer Creek, so maybe some didn't know. No every one does social media.

I for one didn't know he was going to Deer Creek. Which is nice to know since I'll probably make it there.

That's a great question but Birky has a lot of rust in the elbows by now. A lot has changed since he slid past Bloomer high at Knoxville and Rauen may have top notch equipment but nobody is going to say he's got a top notch setup. It would take a miracle for him to win the first night out after so long, and if he did go on to run the rest of the crown jewels he would have to get some serious seat/setup time in between now and then to be a contender.

I am sure my opinion will be as popular as Bloomer not pi$$ing in a cup or Bobby pulling the dirtiest slider since sliding out of his mom but hey, it's what I think on the subject.

Actually Brian hasn't been out of the setup game as long as you'd think. It wasn't but a couple months ago Simpson mentioned having him at his shop helping go thru his longhorn before his win at LaSalle. Simpson has as good of equipment as anyone also. It's still an uphill battle, but don't think Brian isn't paying attention to what's going on. I wouldn't doubt that Brian has been preparing the car and testing some for while. I do agree that not competing at least weekly puts a guy at a disadvantage though.

Is it somewhat of a gimmick to put butts in the seats? Birky is good so we will see what happens.

I agree with this assessment. Was a huge Birky fan but being away that long will make it a tough battle. Was kind of disappointment with the last comeback. Hope this one's better.

What kind of car counts would you guys guess for Dubuque? There aren't a lot of open late models in that area are there?

Promoters are frequently taken to task for lack of effort and initiative. This one wouldn’t be cheap and maybe not for all but it’s an interesting play given Birky’s strong appeal in that region. Like to see more of these; Kelly Boen at I80 comes to mind.

I looked at a few past results from Mason City Iowa in 2016 and a couple from Oklahoma last year. And it was 20-27 range.

What kind of car counts would you guys guess for Dubuque? There aren't a lot of open late models in that area are there?I would say 20-25 cars would be a fair expectation. I think 30 would be pushing it. I'm just hoping for enough to have a full A main. Looking forward to the show regardless. I'll be rooting for the 15B (or 30?) and 157!

I’d say about 30 cars max. Will be a great field nonetheless and good to have racing in Iowa again.

You hit a 3 instead of a 2. 20 cars tops.
MLRA, Hell Tour and guys going to Marshalltown all pull guys you might regularly see away.

As someone posted on ISC 12 cars have made every race. 3 locals confirmed so far

I'm guessing Brian is doing this as a favor. If Raund gave him some cash, he just knows who butters your bread. Good for both and we have a chance to see something special.

The car seems to be top of the line, in AZ with Epj at the wheel.. If Birkey put the magic touch to it, he could pull a rabbit out of the hat. I believe he has before and it might be your last chance to see something special. He definitely knows the track.

Haven't been there for a long time but 1 and 2 was a hammer down, most of the time.

yup. birky is a ball to talk to. but maybe if a few of you talked to his wife you would understand she is an incredible woman as well. raising children quite often changes perspectives on priorities.

I sure do miss Birky racing on a regular basis. This man deserved to be in a top notch car with someone else footing the bills. I know all things eventually come to an end. But it was awesome to see him race last night. And he might not have been the class of the field, he was competitive. Nothing like open motor racing. The roar of the horsepower during the feature is like no other sound in the world.

JMOWell said. Just cause she doesn’t bow down to men she’s made it to be a you know what. More power to her for speaking her mind. And Brian had mentioned his boys getting older and wanting to spend time with them. Oh wait, racing is first to some on here it seems. Not your boys growing up while you aren’t there.

I have to laugh Ricks setup when he rolls in, basically because of what he was and what he has now. He come in with what looks like a old party bus with an enclosed that's beat to pieces. Before that he had a ramp trailer that looked like it had been sitting in a field since about 1984, and the mid 90s Chevy
1500 with both bed sides rusted out. He still goes out and busts everybody's butt with it.

Man I've seen guys come in using old panel vans hauling a trailer that is just barely long enough for a car to sit on and they go out and win. I've seen guys use a car dolly to haul with and then win that night. I saw one time a guy parked next to us years ago and a double axle trailer with only two tires on it to haul a LM and he went out and waxed the field that night. Dude was on a rail.
