CARTERSVILLE, GA – The Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 16 Preview has 15 races on the schedule of events for its four Divisions in six states that include Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Nebraska. Several drivers will by trying to net points, and others will reach the 14-week mark of their 2018 season.

There are three races on the Week 16 schedule of events with Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS highlighting the evening for the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division with a pair of 25-lap $1,000-to-win features called the Dixie 50. The first race will be a Week 15 Make-Up Race, and the second feature will be the regularly scheduled Week 16 race.

The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division will also be in action on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway. Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL will host the Late Models, Street Stocks and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division on Friday night.

Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA will present a tune-up race for the Durrence Layne Late Models on Friday night. The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour will visit Oglethorpe Speedway Park on July 20 for a $2,000-to-win 40-lap Main Event.

Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will each present all four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions on Saturday night with the Late Models, Street Stocks, Late Model Sportsmen, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division.

North Alabama Speedway will have Double Features for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division on Saturday night. The first feature will be a Week 3 Make-Up Race, and the second feature will be the regularly scheduled Week 16 Race.

ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, and Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will each host the Late Models, Street Stocks and Late Model Sportsmen on Saturday night. Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS and Winchester Raceway Park in Winchester, TN each has the Late Models and Street Stocks in action this Saturday night.

Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE will present Saturday night action for the Late Models. Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA and Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL each has the Street Stocks in competition on Saturday night. The lone Sunday night race will take place at Dawson County Raceway in Lexington, NE for the Late Models.

Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division point leader Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS will be looking to net on a 47, with a top three finish with a field of eight or more cars, to improve on his 14-week total of 690 points. Second-place Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS will be looking to improve on a 39 to add to his total of 663 points.

Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is third in the Late Model standings with 653 points, and he will be looking to net on a 41. Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL is fourth with 632 points, and he will be looking to net on a 40. Dustin Harris of Flintville, TN is fifth with 630 points, and will be looking to net on a 37.

Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division point leader with a best 14-week total of 668 points. Ray will be trying to net on a 40. Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS is second in the standings with 648 points, and has one more week to earn full points.

Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL is third in the Street Stock National standings with a best 14-week total of 647 points, and he will be trying to net on a 38. Steve Maughan of Florence, AL is fourth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 641 points, and he will be trying to net on a 39. Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL is fifth with 605 points, and one more week to earn full points.

Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division point leader with 652 points. Mitchell is the only driver that has reached the 14-week mark in the Late Model Sportsman Division, and he will be trying to net on a 25.

Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS and Brandon Crosby of Anniston, AL are tied for the second spot in the Late Model Sportsman standings with 585 points. They both have one more week to earn full points. Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is fourth with 575 points and has two more weeks to earn full points. Haden Duncan of Leighton, AL is fifth in the standings with 561 points and two more weeks to earn full points.

Andy Davis of Argo, AL leads the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings with 465 points after 12 weeks of racing. Chris Yarbrough of Eastaboga, AL is second with 430 points after 11 weeks of competition. Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is third with 429 points after 11 weeks of racing.

Ron Bailey of Huntsville, AL is fourth in the Modified Sportsman standings with 392 points after ten weeks of racing, and Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN rounds out the top five in the standings with 390 points after ten weeks of racing.

Drivers in the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series compete for both a track point fund and a National point fund during a 27-week season that will run through September 30. A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count as their National points total. The top ten drivers in each of the four Divisions will be honored at the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National Awards Banquet at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA.

The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division race cars are powered by either the 400 horsepower aluminum-head, steel block Chevrolet Performance 604 Circle Track Engine, or the 350 horsepower steel-head, steel-block Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.

The Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine is the engine of choice in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division.
