Cant remember the exact issue but he went up in smoke when i went to Cherokee. Seems alot of recent DoD recaps have "caution for Pierce going up in smoke" lately. Hope they can find and fix that ongoing issue

It takes talent to run the top. A lot of guys have the talent, but not many have the nerve and focus it takes to go there and stay there when it's the only option at the time. My favorite drivers are the ones willing to go wherever they need to go to win. Even if it means giving up a top five or even top three night. It's exciting to watch. Much more fun to watch than the Driving Miss Daisy types who never leave the bottom.

I've seen it too many times a car will check out take a big lead an few laps blow up. An he's the only 1 I know that's went through 4 motors this year. If it was engine builder other drivers would have same problem but they don't. An yeah I may sound stupid but bobby an dunn Benson are looking stupid.

Doesn’t take much talent to run the top. You have a slot car on a track and occasionally you jump track. Takes talent to run smooth laps with the car straight within a 10th or two for 100 laps. On the other hand, it doesn’t take many brain cells to watch the car in front of you drive away on the cushion and you make excuses why it isn’t the place to be. Scott will only run a cushion if the track has really slicked off or there isn’t a guardrail to hit in case of a mistake. Maybe his cars are always too tight?? Who knows! Bobby is the best in the business up there. Hats off. Kid is going to be tough for many years!

I can tell you guys tonight, anyone that was at I-80 can tell you... Bobby Pierce’s team got what they deserved... he was entering the corners at well over 9000rpm... which means there was no chip... and Bob Pierce has been ksnown in the past to pull the chip in order to give Bobby that little extra umph... and tonight was no different. The 32 was literly entering the corner and everyone on the front stretch could hear Bobby’s cranked out engine well above everyone else’s engine... it was insane!!!!

I've seen it too many times a car will check out take a big lead an few laps blow up. An he's the only 1 I know that's went through 4 motors this year. If it was engine builder other drivers would have same problem but they don't. An yeah I may sound stupid but bobby an dunn Benson are looking stupid.

Who else is running the same engines? There have been very, very few engine builders who have figured out how to make a ford engine last and Pro Power isn't on that list yet.

It appeared/sounded to me like it dropped a valve on lap 74ish and yes it did sound like he was turning more RPM then most of the cars.

Also remember in the B or last chance race (forgot now) bobby lost half of the header and that was one of the cautions to remove the header that someone ran over. That could have had an effect on the exhaust valve, that I think let go but again dropping a valve is a guess from what I heard on the track.


Second note: the engine was still running when he stopped on the back stretch and continued to do so for a long time way after he got out of the car. I heard someone say it wouldn't shut off with the ignition switch so may had an ignition problem causing the failure but I find that unlikely.

That was a small wore out engine. They were concerned it wouldn't make it through the weekend when they put it in, it was awesome while it lasted.

And tmac uses pro power fords. He is not setting the world on fire at the time, but i dont remember him having to drop out of a race over an engine problem.

Didn't say the number was zero. But, certainly not like this. That team is killing engines at a ridiculous pace. Parts don't fail that commonly. Something is wrong at the user level.

Larry Wallace retired from engine building. And they had one engine with nearly 2500 laps on it at the end of the year last year. That sounds pretty dependable to me.

Thank you. I seen him run a handfull of times this year and his motor pitch sounds no different than anyone else. The last four years with PP in the Pierce car I think I remember maybe 1 blown engine. If anything its geared to low or something, But people putting the blame on Bobby saying hes too hard on them is downright outlandish.. I would take that as a badge of honor that an engine cant be built to stand up to Bobbys right foot lol...

Never said it was specifically Bobby, but top notch parts dont just fail all the time. You have to have fuel or oil or other issues to just blow engines consistently.

well, well, well. Seems all you guys don't know what you thought you knew. The engine belongs to Jeff Hoker and he told Bobby whatever happens,just don't stop. Also, the car has gauges that will replay the whole race. Bob says water temp was 198 degrees, 210 degrees oil temp, 65lbs of oil pressure and 8200-8400 on the tach. Tell me again how this was all Bobby's fault. So much for the people who said you could smell it melting down in the stands. lol Go to dirt on dirt and read the article.
