CARTERSVILLE, GA – The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series is ready to head for the hills to compete in a pair of races that will be Rounds 9 and 10 of the 2018 season. Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN is on for Friday night and Blue Ridge Motorsports Park in Blue Ridge, GA is set for Saturday night.

The Friday night race at Smoky Mountain Speedway will be a $2,000-to-win 40-lap event. The second race of the weekend at Blue Ridge Motorsports Park on Saturday night pays $2,500-to-win and will go for 50 laps.

Drivers from Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Indiana are expected for Rounds 9 and 10 of the 2018 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series season. The defending and two-time National Champion Cory Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) of Loudon, TN is the point leader coming into the pair of races in his quest for a third straight title.

Consistency has been the key to Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)’s success as he has two wins, five top five finishes, and eight top ten finishes in eight starts. He has finished no worse than sixth in every race this season. With 752 points, Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) has a 54-point lead over the second-place driver in the standings, 18-year-old Ashton Winger of Senoia, GA, who has 698 points.

Winger has one win, four top five finishes and five top five finishes. Winger is also the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point leader. Second-generation driver Jake Knowles of Rome, GA is third in the standings with 662 points. Knowles has two wins, three top five finishes and four top ten finished.

Andy Picklesimer of Ooltewah, TN has used a pair of top five finishes to hold the fourth spot in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model National standings with 602 points. Another second-generation driver, Jamey Boland of Cuba, AL is fifth with 578 points and is second in the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings.

The second ten of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model point standings in sixth through tenth respectively are T.J. Brittain of Centre, AL, Rookie contender Bryant Marsh of Corinth, MS, Marcus Minga of Corinth, MS, Tyler Wood of Hohenwald, TN, and Oakley Johns of Hohenwald, TN.

Hoosier State drivers Austin Burns of Morgantown, IN and Chris Stapleton of Edinburgh, IN will travel to South Georgia this weekend in 11th and 12th respectively trying to race their way into the top ten of the point standings.

On Friday, the pit gate opens at 5 p.m. with Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 7 p.m. with Hot Laps at 7:30 p.m.
