MARYVILLE, TN – An isolated rain shower over Smoky Mountain Speedway on Friday night forced cancellation of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series $2,000-to-win 40-lap race. The rains came right after the 36-car field finished Knowles Race Parts and Bodies Group Qualifying, making it the tenth series event to be rained out this season.
A date to reschedule the race that involved three other sanctioning bodies could not be found that fit everyone’s schedule, which forced officials to cancel the event. Rain checks from Friday night’s event will be honored at any race this season at Smoky Mountain Speedway.
Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Entry Fees from Friday night will be credited at any series event for the remainder of the 2018 season. The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will return to Smoky Mountain Speedway on October 5 for a $2,000-to-win 40-lap race and on October 6 for a $2,500-to-win 50-lap race.
The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will now head south along the Appalachian Mountains to Blue Ridge Motorsports Park in Blue Ridge, GA on Saturday night for a $2,500-to-win 50-lap race.
On Saturday at Blue Ridge Motorsports Park, the Pit Gate opens at 3 p.m. with Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. with Hot Laps at 7 p.m. and Racing is scheduled for 8 p.m.
