MARS/Iron-Man Late Models Back at Brownstown Speedway for Hall of Fame Classic Saturday August 4

SOMERSET, KY – July 30, 2018 – The MARS Super Late Model Racing Series will make their second visit of 2018 to Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN on Saturday August 4 as the series will conclude the Hoosier State Hall of Fame Weekend as the tour will sanction the Brownstown Speedway 14th Annual Hall of Fame Classic, paying $10,000 to win and $500 to start the fifty-lap main event. The event will also be co-sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com.

The Hoosier State Hall of Fame Weekend will get underway on Friday August 3 at Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN with the MARS Super Late Models presented by J.B.’s Salvage, paying $3,000 to win and $300 to start.

The MARS Super Late Model Racing Series and Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com will be in action at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN on Saturday August 4 for the track’s 14th Annual Hall of Fame Classic, which will see the MARS Super Late Model Racing Series competitors race for $10,000 to win and $500 to start in the 14th Annual Hall of Fame Classic main event. In addition to the MARS Super Late Model Racing Series being in competition at Brownstown Speedway on Saturday August 4, the track’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Pure Stocks will also be in action. The pit area and general admission will open at 3:00 p.m., with driver registration taking place from 3:00 p.m. until 5:15 p.m., with the driver’s meeting set for 5:30 p.m., with practice laps set for 6:00 p.m., followed by time trials and green flag racing. Ticket prices at Brownstown Speedway on Saturday August 4 for the 14th Annual Hall of Fame Classic in the general admission area will be $25 for adults, while a pit pass will be an additional $15 at the pit gate.

The Super Late Model portion of the program will be sanctioned by the MARS Super Late Model Racing Series. The entry fee will be $100, plus transponder rental for timing/scoring purposes. The Super Late Model tire rules will be as follows: Hoosier 1350 (LO3) on the left front, right front, and left rear and 1350 (LO3), 1600 (LO6), and LM40 on right rear (crate 21 is also legal); American Racer 48 on the left front, right front, and left rear and 56 on the right rear. Random tire samples will be taken by the series. Drivers not making the feature event will receive $100 tow money.

This will mark the MARS Super Late Model Racing Series second visit to Brownstown Speedway in 2018, as Kent Robinson of Bloomington, IN would be victorious in the tour’s previous appearance at the Born Free 40, with Robinson winning that event over Devin Gilpin, Tanner English, Steve Casebolt, and Shelby Miles.

This will be the fourteenth edition of the Hall of Fame Classic at Brownstown Speedway. Mike Jewell of Scottsburg, IN would claim the victory in the first pair of Hall of Fame Classic events in 2005 and 2006. Dennis Erb, Jr. of Carpentersville, IL would score the race win 2007, with Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN laying claim to wins in the event in 2008 and 2009. Greg Johnson of Bedford, IN would win the event in 2010, while Kent Robinson of Bloomington, IN would score the race victory in 2011. Dustin Linville of Bryantsville, KY would hit paydirt in the event in 2012, while Jewell would make himself the only three-time winner of the contest with his 2013 victory. Jeremy Hines of Seymour, IN would win back-to-back Hall of Fame events with victories in the 2014 and 2015 events. Cody Mahoney of Hanover, IN would claim the event win in 2016, while Tanner English was victorious in the 2017 edition of the Hall of Fame Classic, taking the victory over Cody Mahoney, Victor Lee, Adam Bowman, and Tripp Gerrald. Also, the Brownstown Speedway Hall of Fame Class of 2018 will be introduced and inducted into the Brownstown Speedway Hall of Fame.
