AUGUST 4, 2018 - LAWRENCEBURG SPEEDWAY - JASON SOUDRETTE MEMORIAL

Weekly racing returns to the Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday night, August 4th, with the 5th Annual Jason Soudrette Memorial featuring the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprints, Budweiser UMP Modifieds, Impact Sports Pure Stocks, and the Bessler’s U Pull & Save Hornets.

This event is held in honor of Jason Soudrette, a former competitor at the Lawrenceburg Speedway, first in the AMSA mini sprints and later the sprint car division. The 33-year old driver from Saylor Park, Ohio, passed away on December 2, 2013, from Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

THE NATIONAL MARROW DONOR PROGRAM

Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukemia. It can happen to anyone, at any time. But so can a cure – a marrow or cord blood transplant. Learn more about the heart of our mission – delivering cures for blood cancers – at www.bethematch.org

Jason loved racing and he enjoyed the special time with his family doing something he loved. Jason’s father, John, carries on the family racing team fielding the Soudrette Racing 44 with Di ckie Gaines behind the wheel.

Jason also enjoyed music and was a musician at heart. He started out when he was young playing bass in a punk rock band with all of his friends. He played on and off in other bands and in each of those bands he enjoyed the music but more importantly, he enjoyed the strong friendships that music made in his life.

In appreciation of Jason’s love of music and racing one of the more unique trophies in Midwest sprint car racing will be presented to Saturday night’s winner – a bass guitar.

Cordell Moore, who scored a trifecta last Saturday winning the Hornet Enduro, Soccer Mom Nationals and Minivan Demo Derby, is the Bessler's U Pull & Save Hornets point leader followed by Gary Whitt and Bradley Eberhart.
