R.J. Conley Sweeps Final Two Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week Races; Nabs Series Title!

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) R.J. Conley, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, swept the final weekend of Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week action on August 3-4 to claim the miniseries point championship and elevate his 2018 win total to six! On Friday night at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, Ohio, R.J. qualified well and won the fast dash to earn the pole position for the 40-lap headliner. He then took the lead on lap two and led the remainder of the feature distance to pocket the $3,000 payday ahead of Jared Hawkins, Jared Miley, Mike Maresca, and Duane Chamberlain. His brother Rod Conley was close behind, as he scored a victory in his heat race prior to advancing up to sixth in the A-Main.

Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week then wrapped up on Saturday evening at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. R.J. placed third in the fast dash before grabbing the point early in the 40-lap main event. He then held the lead throughout the remainder of the contest to collect the $5,000 top prize over Eddie Carrier, Jr., Jared Hawkins, Rod Conley, and Ryan Montgomery. "Hot Rod" won his heat race in preliminary competition and later picked off four cars during the 40-lapper to secure the fourth place effort. Delmas Conley, the patriarch of the racing Conley clan, finished second in his heat race and twelfth in the feature.

Following Saturday's grand finale at PRP, it was determined that R.J. won the Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week title by a single point over his brother Rod to give Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) a one-two finish in the final standings! Complete results from the two weekend battles in southern Ohio can be found online at www.brushcreekmotorsports.com and www.portsraceway.com.

All three CMI teams have opted to take the upcoming August 10-11 weekend off from racing competition. Next up on the calendar will be a trip to Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio on Friday, August 17 for the annual running of the ‘Ike Moler Memorial.’ Rod and R.J. Conley are both slated to be in action at MRP to gun for the $3,000 winner’s check. Delmas, Rod, and R.J. Conley will then be in the pit area at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday, August 18 for the 24th edition of the ‘Fred Dillow Memorial,’ which boasts a $5,000 paycheck.
