Three Southeast Tracks Agree to Work Together for November Weekend Super Late Model Specials

Sylvania, Georgia (August 18, 2018) - In an effort to serve both racers and fans in the region Screven Motor Speedway, Lancaster Motor Speedway and Cherokee Speedway have come to an agreement to tie their November Super Late Model Specials together. The 3 tracks have added a $3000 point fund for the top 5 drivers in points among the 3-day event.

With the agreement the Ultimate Series portion of Georgia State Outlaw Championship at Screven will be shifted to Friday night, November 16th. The drivers will then move to the recently announced $10,000 to win event at Lancaster on Saturday, November 17th which will be sanctioned by the Southern All Star Racing Series. And finally, the weekend will conclude on Sunday, November 18th at Cherokee Speedway’s $10,000 to win Blue Gray 100 which is sanctioned by the Carolina Clash Series.

“It just made sense for everyone involved. We all have the same tire rule and everything else is essentially the same, so it should be good for the racers and fans alike. This deal will allow all the racers in the region to be able to go to all 3 shows and go after some good money without a lot of travel. It is a good deal for this region. We all need to find things like this to work together for everyone’s benefit.” Said ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Director Kelley Carlton.

James “Redd” Griffin was the first to agree to put up the point money and thought this was the “perfect scenario” to make for a bigger Super Late Model weekend turnout for all three tracks. Scott Childress of Cherokee Speedway agrees. “When Kelley called me about adding the point money and trying to work together, it was a no -brainer. I believe it helps us all and will help us draw some good racers in as well.”

Lancaster Speedway’s Shannon Munn also knew this was the right thing for the weekend. “We have wanted to do a bigger Super Late Model show all year and we felt like working together with Cherokee was the best move. We didn’t realize until we had everything in place that the Ultimate Series was racing the same day. But in the end, it all worked out and I believe we have put together something that is good for all the drivers and race fans too.”

The event will carry a $3000 point fund which will be divided among the top 5 in final points for the weekend. The point system will be based on the Ultimate Series points table. Drivers must be present at all 3 events to be eligible for the point money. The winner will take home $1200. Second through fifth will receive $600, $500, $400 and $300 respectively.

Really nice to see tracks working together, instead of the usual. Hopefully it works out for all of them.
