Harold Hardgrove Memorial for Iron-Man Late Models, Iron-Man Modifieds Set for Lake Cumberland Speedway on Saturday August 25

SOMERSET, KY – August 19, 2018 – The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com and Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will visit Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY on Saturday August 25 for the Harold Hardgrove Memorial event, with the Iron-Man Late Models competing for $5,022 to win and Iron-Man Modifieds in action for $1,022 to win.

Lake Cumberland Speedway will host the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com on Saturday August 25 for the Harold Hardgrove Memorial event with Super Late Model competitors will race for $5,022 to win and $400 to start. The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will also be in competition at Lake Cumberland Speedway on Saturday August 25, racing for $1,022 to win and $100 to start. Other divisions in action at Lake Cumberland Speedway on Saturday August 25 at the Harold Hardgrove Memorial event will be the track’s KDRA Super Stocks racing for $1,022 to win and KDRA Four Cylinders racing for $1,022 to win. Activities at Lake Cumberland Speedway for the Harold Hardgrove Memorial on Saturday August 25 will see the pit area will open at 3:00 p.m, with the general admission area opening at 5:00 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be at 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by practice, time trials, and green flag racing. Ticket prices at Lake Cumberland Speedway on Saturday August 25 in the general admission area will be $22 for adults, while a pit pass will be $40.

The Super Late Model portion of the program will be sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series. The entry fee will be $75, plus transponder rental for timing/scoring purposes. The Super Late Model tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350 and 1600; American Racer 48 and 56 on all four corners of the race cars. Random tire samples will be taken by the series. Drivers not making the feature event will receive $50 tow money.

The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will sanction the Open Wheel Modified portion of the program. The entry fee will be $25, plus transponder rental for timing/scoring purposes. The Open Wheel Modified tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier M30 or M60 and American Racer Hard and Extra Hard. The Hoosier M60 and American Racer Extra Hard can be used as an option on the right rear of the cars and all tires can be siped, but no grooving of any tire is allowed. Random tire samples will be taken by the series. Drivers not making the feature event will receive $25 tow money.

The event honors the memory of former Central Kentucky racer and former Lake Cumberland Speedway promoter Harold Hardgrove, who owned and operated the track from 1997 until his untimely death in 2009. Hardgrove often competed at the track prior to him purchasing the track and begin his tenure and owner and promoter in 1997. He reinstated the running of the Lake Cumberland Classic in 1998, while also hosting an invitational event that featured national country music superstars Montgomery-Gentry in concert prior to the 2002 event. He also presented the track’s first $10,000 to win event (the Coca-Cola 100 in November of 2002 and also presented several Northern Allstars Late Model Series events and Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series events during his time at the helm of the track. The late Mr. Hardgrove’s son Brandon and daughter Casey currently operate the track and present this event now annually in memory of their father. Skylar Marlar of Winfield, TN would win the Super Late Model portion of the 2017 edition of the event over Cody Mahoney, Tommy Bailey, Victor Lee, and Brian Smith. Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY would claim victory in the 2017 Modified portion of the contest, winning over Jimmy Payne, Peyton Harlow, Shon Flanary, and Jeff Watson.
