Is it true that there will be no Lucas Oil provisionals on Saturday?

I believe that is true. That is why it is NOT a points night either, just show up points

Max Blair

Bobby Pierce
Benjamin Mott

So one guy who likely won't need it anyways, one who is happy to have it in case his team needs it, and two that are happier than a puppy with two pieters.

I had no idea that Mott had the 4th most ravenous fan base following in DLM racing? Good for him and Blair.

With ALL intent to stir the pot...apparently Superman's fans have more faith in their guy than Bloomer and Bobby fans have in theirs.

Or...maybe JD fans just said $@#& it, there's too much small print to read in order to donate so their boy gets points.

I would love to see the actual $$ spent by each fan base and how much went to the purse.

You will find out who he is this wkend ;) like rest of us lol. I’m glad that some like max got # 1 in donations. Good to see a small team make it in two of the top four points. Don’t need big names and teams take over the top 10 in donations.

Yep say all 4 make it in then 5-8 would get provisionals..if top 8 fan provisionals make it the 9-12 in fan points would get them, and so on and so on...

If your not careful by doing this the way they are you will get somebody on they front row that has never been in a race like this an they spin going into turn 1 an take out half the field this track is narrow compared to most tracks.

Mott is a mediocre weekly racer. My understanding is someone with his team or that knows him was offered some kind of package deal and thats what put him towards the top. As or the guy asking about the no names in the top 25. The only one i heard of is Matt Irey. And he too is a mediocre weekly racer at best. Im not bashing the guys at all. Just my 2 cents on what ive seen of them.

Hence the flaw in the entire race idea, you just buy your way in. Great idea for the track, lousy idea for the fan.

if thats the only flaw in the race then i think they did a pretty dang good job.

it amazes me how so many people get hung up on the "negatives" instead of looking at the good in things and focusing on them.

Whats so bad about Mott taking 1 spot out of a field of 28??? He has a sponsor that is backing him and putting him in the show.

Almost every race has a spot in the field that is reserved for a provisional(s), whether it be the touring series (WoO or LOLMDS), even the summer nationals give the track hosting the race a track provisional reserved for the highest in points at the track. Even Eldora has a provisional, used to be fast qualifier not in the show now its based off of highest accumulated points not in the show. So what is the difference???

Just think of the Mott provisional as a track provisional

Serious question, if 1, 2 or even all 4 of these guys race thier way into the show and don't need the provisional (which is likely,) does the provisional go to say the 5th place then 6th place guy in the provisional standings from the dirt million list or is it just not used.

Yes. The top 4 in fan points or whatever it’s called that don’t get in from heats or a B main will start the feature.

This was also covered in post 13 & 16 to this thread

What difference does it make whether Mott turns 5 laps and pulls off for $3600, or one of the touring big wigs does it?

Happens at all of the big $ races. Soon as cars gets lapped or 1st caution...half dozen guys pull a Nemechek and head to the pits for the night. This race will be no different.

I would argue Mott will be more likely to stay out there longer than some of the touring guys will if they don't think they can win.

Only way to stop that....
28th, $3000
27th, $4000
26th, $5000
25th, $6000...

When the bottom 12 guys get paid roughly the same & there's no points on the line what's the incentive to keep turning laps?

Here’s the story behind what Mott pulled off. No sponsors, did it all himself. Made the most out of what he had to work with it sounds like.

Nothing against Mott, but if the race is a financial success and is ran again next season, could it end up with 4 Mott type cars?

Who cares? It helps grow the purse for the race. 24 other guys still have a shot to make the show, which is still more than most sanctioned shows that only take 22 because of the series provisionals. I am glad there aren't any series provisionals on Saturday. And at the end of the day the 4 cars starting in the back helped put more money into the other 24 drivers' pockets.

I think iys a good thing, what if 4 Mott type guys do it next year and they bring in some type of company or a group that never would have looked at dirt racing and it helps the sport grow. It could happen the more ways to create exposure the better.

This is what I have said for years. The difference in finishing positions needs to be steeper at all these races. I bet you would see better racing and more hurt feelings!

I'd say Mott will do 100 laps, if something doesn't happen to keep him from completing it. A lot of regional guys don't ever experience a 100 lapper, and that's the goal of a lot guy to make at least one. If he's right there on the same level as Matt Irey, he'll be able to handle a car and stay out of the way.

I think it's kind of dumb in one way, but cool in another how the guy made the show. Everybody has been talking about the guy, so he's already gotten his name out there. Mission accomplished.

Tyler Horst runs around Winchester, Cumberland, and wherever else semi local. Ive seen him at the world finals and a few other big races over the last few years. Not sure if hes won anywhere but he's got some $ behind him from somewhere
