Dennis Erb, Jr. Ready for Lucas Oil Series Triple Shot on Heels of Dirt Million

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) All eyes in the Dirt Late Model world were fixated on the inaugural running of the 'Dirt Million' on August 24-25 at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over the two-day spectacular, which started with a pair of $10,000 to win 'Dirt Million' duels on Friday night. Dennis Erb, Jr. knocked down the fifth quickest lap during the qualifying session prior to securing a strong second place finish in his heat race. After starting sixth on the grid in his 30-lap duel, Dennis wound up slipping back to twelfth in the final finishing order.

When Saturday evening rolled around at the pristine Buckeye State speedplant, Dennis placed second once again in heat race action, but later won his B-Main to land a coveted starting spot in the 100-lap 'Dirt Million' headliner. During the course of the race, which boasted a whopping nearly $203,000 payday, Dennis climbed up inside of the top ten from his twentieth starting position. However, at the end of the extra-distance affair, the Carpentersville, Illinois ace was forced to settle for a fourteenth place performance in the largest paying race of the year after suffering right front suspension issues. Three more Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series battles are on tap over the hectic Labor Day holiday weekend, as the popular national touring series will take the #28 team to the states of Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia from August 31-September 2. On Friday night, Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky will play host to the $12,000 to win ‘John Bradshaw Memorial,’ while another $12,000 top prize will be up for grabs on Saturday evening in the ‘Bob Miller Memorial’ at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. The tripleheader weekend will then conclude with the 50th Annual ‘Hillbilly Hundred’ on Sunday at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, West Virginia, which pays a gargantuan $50,000 to the winner. Dennis comes into the triple shot thirteenth in the heated LOLMDS point standings. More information can be found by logging onto www.lucasdirt.com.
