Jimmy Mars Ready for Knoxville Late Model Nationals on Heels of Soggy Eldora

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Mars Racing had planned to unload their #28 machine from September 6-8 at the hallowed high-banks of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio to vie for the prestigious globe trophy in the 48th Annual 'World 100.' However, with the rainy remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon postponing Friday and Saturday's action at the "Big E" until October 12-13, only Thursday night's $10,000 to win Twin 25s escaped the wrath of Mother Nature.

In the wee hours of Friday morning after a lengthy rain delay, Jimmy Mars timed in twentieth fastest overall during qualifying before finishing third in his heat race. Jimmy then worked his way past seven competitors during his 25-lapper to claim a solid eighth place showing. Complete results from the soggy weekend in the Buckeye State can be found online at www.eldoraspeedway.com.

The #28 team is now locked and loaded for one of their favorite events of the season – the 15th edition of the ‘Knoxville Late Model Nationals’ at the storied Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. Things will kick off later this evening, September 13 with a $7,000 to win prelim, which will once again be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Another $7,000 payday will then be on the line in a similar preliminary night on Friday at the 1/2-mile, semi-banked speedplant. The culmination of the three-day ‘Knoxville Late Model Nationals’ will then take center stage on Saturday night, September 15, as the 100-lap crown jewel spectacular will once again boast a whopping $40,000 top prize.

Jimmy, who hails out of Menomonie, Wisconsin, has made 14 feature starts at the downtown Knoxville, Iowa facility – the most of any driver – with a best finish of fourth place three times (2017, 2014, 2008).
