Ray Cook Lands Top Five in SE Late Model Sportsman Showdown During Rebel Yell

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook, of Brasstown, North Carolina, ventured south to Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia on Saturday evening, September 8 to compete in the track's 'Rebel Yell' extravaganza. In the $10,000 to win Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) special, Ray drove his Wynn Motorsports ride to the third quickest lap in his group during qualifying prior to finishing third in his heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the third row in the 60-lap main event, Ray was running in the sixth position until suspension problems shortly after the halfway mark caused him to retire in the nineteenth spot.

In the Southeastern Late Model Sportsman Series program at Screven, Ray clicked off the eighth quickest time during the qualifying session to earn the outside of the fourth row for the start of the $2,000 to win feature event. During the course of the 30-lapper, the popular driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" steered past four competitors en route to a fourth place effort behind only victor Kenny Collins, Ben Watkins, and Nick Schlager. Complete results from the 'Rebel Yell' can be located online at www.screvenmotorsports.com.

Ray will put his helmet bag on the shelf and will break out his promoter’s hat once again this upcoming weekend, as his Southern Nationals Bonus Series will preside over a lucrative event this Saturday night, September 15 at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia. The single-day throwdown in the Peach State on Saturday will boast a $10,000 paycheck. More information concerning this race can be accessed by logging onto www.southernnationalsseries.com.
