Jimmy Mars Eyes More Success in Punky Manor Challenge of Champions Following Knoxville

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The #28 team made their way to the Hawkeye State on September 13-15 for the 15th Annual 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals' at the storied Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. The action started at the 1/2-mile, semi-banked speedplant with a pair of preliminary shows - each of which paid $7,000 to the winner. On Thursday night, Jimmy Mars ran third in his heat race before winding up fourteenth in the final rundown of the 25-lap main event. At Knoxville on Friday evening, Jimmy placed second in his heat race prior to driving up to sixth in the 25-lapper to trail only victor Brandon Sheppard, Frank Heckenast, Jr., Don O'Neal, Jonathan Davenport, and Tim McCreadie!

By virtue of racking up the sixteenth highest point total during preliminary competition, Jimmy earned the right to the outside of the eighth row for the start of Saturday's 100-lap crown jewel spectacular. During the 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals,' the Menomonie, Wisconsin star looked like a serious threat to vie for the $40,000 top prize, as he climbed up inside of the top five at one point in the first half of the race. However, problems shortly after the halfway mark – his nosepiece folded under – caused Jimmy to head pitside and he was relegated to a disappointing twenty-eighth place performance. Jimmy will now prepare a Late Model and an Open Wheel Modified for this weekend’s 39th Annual ‘Punky Manor Challenge of Champions’ at his hometown Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin. On Friday night, September 21, heat races for both divisions will take place at the Dunn County Rec Park oval, while consolation events and the two features will be held on Saturday evening, September 22. Jimmy, who is a multiple-time ‘Punky Manor’ winner in both classes during his illustrious career, will be gunning for the $4,000 winner’s check in his WISSOTA Late Model and the $2,000 payday in his WISSOTA Modified.
