Iron-Man Classic $3,000 to win October 5, Lake Cumberland Classic $5,000 to win October 6 at Lake Cumberland Speedway

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY – September 26, 2018 – In what will be a first for all the series involved and Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY, the track will present the 14th Annual Iron-Man Classic on Friday October 5, paying $3,000 to win for Super Late Models and the 24th Annual Lake Cumberland Classic on Saturday October 6, paying $5,000 to win for Super Late Models. Cornett Racing Engines of Somerset, KY will be the presenting sponsor for both evening’s racing activities.

For the first-time ever, the weekend’s event will feature a trio of Super Late Model touring series and an Open Wheel Modified tour as well. The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com, the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV, and the MARS Super Late Model Racing Series will all be action on Friday October 5 for $3,000 to win and Saturday October 6 for $5,000 to win, with the trio of touring series sanctioning the Super Late Model action each night, with it also being championship weekend for the MARS Super Late Model Racing Series, with the tour’s champion to be crowned on Saturday October 6. Also, the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will be in competition on Saturday October 6, racing for $1,200 to win.

On Friday October 5, Lake Cumberland Speedway will host the trio of Super Late Model racing series for the 14th Annual Iron-Man Classic, with the Iron-Man, Southern Nationals Bonus Series, and MARS Super Late Models competing in a 40-lap main event that will pay $3,000 to win and $300 to start. Joining the Super Late Models in action at Lake Cumberland Speedway on Friday October 5 at the Iron-Man Classic will be the track’s Open Wheel Modifieds racing for $1,200 to win, KDRA Super Stocks racing for $700 to win, Rear Wheel Drive Four Cylinders racing for $400 to win, and Front Wheel Drive Four Cylinders racing for $300 to win. Activities at Lake Cumberland Speedway for the 14th Annual Iron-Man Classic on Friday October 5 will see the pit area and general admission areas open at 3:00 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be at 6:45 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by time trials and green flag racing. Ticket prices at Lake Cumberland Speedway for the 14th Annual Iron-Man Classic on Friday October 5 in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, while a pit pass will be $35.

The weekend concludes on Saturday October 6 as the 24th Annual Lake Cumberland Classic will take place at Lake Cumberland Speedway, with the trio of the Iron-Man, Southern Nationals Bonus Series, and MARS Super Late Models once again in competition, racing 50 laps in their main event for $5,000 to win and $450 to start. Along with the Super Late Models, the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will join the racing action in a 20 lap, $1,200 to win and $100 to start main event. Joining the Super Late Models and Modifieds in action at Lake Cumberland Speedway on Saturday October 6 at the Lake Cumberland Classic will be the track’s KDRA Super Stocks racing for $1,200 to win, Rear Wheel Drive Four Cylinders racing for $500 to win, and Front Wheel Drive Four Cylinders racing for $600 to win. The Super Late Model portion of the program will be sanctioned by the Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series, Southern Nationals Bonus Series, and MARS Super Late Model Racing Series. The entry fee will be $100 for each event, plus transponder rental for timing/scoring purposes. The Super Late Model tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350 and 1600 and American Racer 48 and 56 on all four corners of the race cars. Random tire samples will be taken by the series. Drivers not making the feature event will receive $50 tow money each night. In addition, there will be a $200 bonus to the highest finishing driver utilizing a CT525 engine package and a $200 bonus to the highest finishing driver utilizing an All Steel/SPEC engine package.

The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series will sanction the Open Wheel Modified portion of the program at the Lake Cumberland Classic on Saturday October 6. The entry fee will be $25, plus transponder rental for timing/scoring purposes. The Open Wheel Modified tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier M30 or M60 and American Racer Hard and Extra Hard. The Hoosier M60 and American Racer Extra Hard is an option on the right rear of the cars and all tires can be siped, but no grooving of any tire is allowed. Random tire samples will be taken by the series. Drivers not making the feature event will receive $25 tow money.
