We wish Donnie the best of luck and success at Big E with his late model. I wish some of the mud cab guys besides McCreadie and Hudson O'Neil, just to name two, would give the open wheel cars a whirl. Especially at Eldora.

ROSSBURG, Ohio — An unexpected name has appeared on the most recent version of the entry list for the 48th annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway.

Nine-time World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz has filed an entry for the prestigious dirt late model race.

Schatz, who won the Kings Royal sprint car race at Eldora earlier this year, has entered the World 100 in the event weather gives him the opportunity to compete.

The final two nights of the World 100 were rained out Sept. 7-8 and rescheduled for Oct. 12-13 at the historic half-mile dirt track owned by Tony Stewart.

Schatz is scheduled to race at Eldora when the World of Outlaws makes its final appearance there Oct. 14, which is also the rain date for the World 100. Schatz is committed to racing his familiar No. 15 Tony Stewart Racing sprint car at Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway Oct. 12 and the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track Oct. 13.

However, his late model is being prepared for Eldora in the event of a weather-related postponement that may wash out one of the sprint car races or delay the World 100.

Schatz has raced his late model sporadically in recent years, competing in the World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte and the DIRTcar Nationals at Florida’s Volusia Speedway Park among other events.

Schatz has scored a pair of late model wins this year, with those victories coming at North Dakota’s Nodak Speedway and River Cities Speedway in August.
