Jeep Van Wormer Closes Out 2018 Campaign in Rain-Postponed World 100

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Iron Motorsports returned to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on October 12-13 for the rain-postponed 'World 100,' which marked the conclusion of their 2018 campaign. Action was slated to get underway at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant on Friday evening with a pair of $10,000 to win Twin 25s, but cold temperatures and rain showers pushed the prelims back to Saturday afternoon. Jeep Van Wormer placed fifth in his stacked heat race, but later scored the victory in his consolation event. After starting the 25-lap affair from the outside of the ninth row, Jeep eventually wound up seventeenth in the daytime sprint.

At the "Big E" on Saturday night, all eyes of the 77 returning competitors were fixated on the whopping $51,000 top prize and the famous globe trophies that were up for grabs for the winner of the 48th edition of the 'World 100.' Jeep finished tenth in his stacked heat race and twelfth in his B-Main. Unfortunately, the Pinconning, Michigan ace was unable to make the start in the 100-lap crown jewel extravaganza. Full results from the hectic day/night doubleheader in the Buckeye State can be viewed by pointing your web browser to www.eldoraspeedway.com.

With the checkered flag at Eldora, Jeep and his #55 team will now start the process of refreshing their equipment during the off-season and start getting ready for 2019. In a year that saw Jeep enter only 14 events primarily due to work commitments, he was able to reach victory lane on two different occasions and record an additional runner-up performance. Jeep’s trio of strong efforts in 2018 came during a three-week stretch from September 15-29 at the dirt-covered Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan, as he racked up $9,000 in first place prize money plus second place money in the $6,000 to win Berlin finale.
