Why hasn't anyone developed a starter/ clutch setup in the quick change using the in/out setup?
Seams like simple way to eliminate push starts and associated delays.

West Coast Spec Sprints use a Starter/Battery combo without trans, just push car to staging and then engage the rear, turn on the fuel and push the start button. Now the Northeastern Wingless Sprints use the Bert trans/Starter/Battery combo in theirs like was mentioned above. Like you I think having something mounted to the front of or in the QC would be a cool way to go, but there are solutions available. Some of your Sprint diehards cringe and balk at any mention of trans or starter, but to each his own. I like where your heads at!

If no clutch, then simply a small ring gear on the input shaft, and an idler and gear reduction starter like a bert or brinn bellhousing uses.

Eliiminate the warmup push starts in the pits, for safety, if nothing else.
Even a pushoff, with the engine idling would be preferred.
Just match speeds and slip into gear.
