EASTABOGA, AL – Jadon Frame of Decherd, TN earned the pole position on Saturday for Sunday’s Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series $3,000-to-win race at the 28th Annual Talladega Short Track Ice Bowl. Frame was the Knowles Race Parts and Bodies Fast Qualifier to earn the pole for the first of four Heat Races on Saturday.

The 28th Annual Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track opens the seven-race Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Winter Shootout Series that will precede the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour.

Frame out-timed the 49 entrants with a lap around the Hornets’ Nest in 14.856 seconds and then go on to win the first ten-lap Heat Race to claim the pole for the Big Show. Corey Posey won the second Heat Race on Saturday and will start the main event on Sunday from the outside of the front row.

The defending Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Winter Shoot Champion Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland, TN won the third ten-lap Heat Race in the Car Smart Auto Sales Longhorn and will start the Ice Bowl Main event on Sunday from the inside of the second row. Local favorite Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL won the fourth heat and starts the Ice Bowl from the outside of row two in the Skinner’s Body Shop Rocket.

The top four finishers from each heat race on Saturday transferred to Sunday’s $3,000-to-win Ice Bowl main event. The second-place finishers in the four heats were Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL, the defending Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Ice Bowl Champion and three-time National Champion Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN, Shannon Davis of Estill Springs, TN, and Tyler Hurst of Lineville, AL.

The third-place heat race finishers were Heath Carr of Ashland, AL, Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS, Chase Walls of Decherd, TN, and Clayton Turner. Fourth-place heat race finishers transferring into the Ice Bowl main were Bryant Marsh of Corinth, MS, Brandon Williams of Crossville, TN, T.J. Brittain of Centre, AL, and Lee Burdett of Bessemer, AL.

Drivers that did not transfer to the main event that finished fifth on back in Saturday’s heat race action will have another opportunity to race their way into the $3,000-to-win Ice Bowl Main Event on Sunday for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series, as there will a pair of 12-lap B-Main Races that will put the top four finishers out of each one into the Big Show.
