In the DoD chat there are a few guys complaining about the racing. When you have six heats and a 48 car field, it's not all that likely you'll get a lot of equally matched cars in the heats, but the Bs and the features have been excellent....maybe not for 1st in the feature, but certainly back through the pack. I thought those Bs were great.

There hasn’t been much passing in the heats all week, but the racing in the features has been great. Not sure what anyone could complain about. And you’re right, Snake, there was some really good racing tonight in the B’s.

Feature cars on the track now!

I grew up on them...or their forerunners rather. My hometrack (also Kevin Kovac's) was Flemmington Speedway - Modified Country USA. The only thing I knew of Late Models was hearing there was a race called the World 100. I saw Billy Pauch as a rookie. Guys like Barefoot Bob used to run there for the big shows. Jimmy Horton ran there...Brett Hearne.

I stopped going once they paved it. Soon after they tore the place down and made it a shopping mall. Like with Late Models, the cars aren't anything like I watched as a kid in the 60s and 70s, but they're fun to watch. Tonight's feature was great.

That’s awesome. You and I are sort of opposites. I grew up in dirt late model country. My first race was Eldora in 1980. My home track was/is Florence, KY (even though I moved to GA 5 years ago). Starting around age 20, I began just hitting whatever big DLM show I could find within a 2- or 3-hour drive. Fast forward to 2007 and I made a two-year job transfer to New York. No late models there, but I needed my dirt racing fix lol ... so, hello SuperDirt Mods. I saw probably 20 races over two years, and have loved them ever since.

Team rocket is the most professional run slm team out there. Sheppard is one of the best, though I think he doesn't get the accolades that many other get. He just straps in night after night and puts a whoopin on all comers. Will it be another dominating year for team blue ? And people talk of bobbie pierce as the next possible goat ! Huh, don't overlook Brandon Sheppard as many seem to do. What is he 25 ? Mark and Steve Baker are happy.

B-Shep is a Top 5 everywhere they enter that car. This is the 3rd year that you could argue that he's the best. This kid is very appreciate of the ride he has and he is amazing. It's amazing he has already raced 16 nights this year.

Marlar also said they should throw all them sticks over the hill and let the drivers race. He said the quality of side by side racing suffers when guys get signaled up/down to block. Is he wrong?

Everyone knew why they were winning.Right. And everyone doesn’t give Sheppard credit because he’s in the best of everything, that’s why he’s winning. But all of the sudden, it’s not the person fill in the blank likes and it’s some issue. BS

And I do not feel that way about Sheppard. I like him. Of course he’s got good stuff, so does the majority of the other guys. Mark ain’t there to just be pretty, winning is what sells cars.

All the top guys are in top equipment. The difference is, some are willing and able to drive anywhere on the track they need to go, while some drive the same line every night, every race and every track.

True.

Never until that time do I remember late models ever having rear suspension rules. There have been many different mousetraps used over the years, none were outlawed that I remember. Then again I don't know if any were as effective either.

Then again I don't know if any were as effective either. The draw for me was that anything was legal, as long as it was a beam axle. You are correct. Had it remained legal, the gap between guys like Jeep, Matt Miller, and Feger and the top Lucas guys would not have opened up. Folks think the rules kept it from being worse, they are wrong.
