Those 8 fans on the backstretch had a totally unobstructed view from any seat back there.

I haven't been to the 500 in 30 years, but if they do this Im there!

Periodically I have a recurring dream of NASCAR scheduling a Cup race at one of the Illinois 1 mile dirt tracks (Springfield and/or Du Quoin). Every time I have that dream I wake up smiling but it isn't long before I completely regain consciousness realize NASCAR isn't capable of doing something that makes that much sense.

ARCA, and before that USAC, puts on some great racing at both places and have every year since in the early 1960's. It would certainly separate the real drivers from the buy-a-ride boys.

NASCAR has gone from 20" wide bench seating to today's offering where one ticket purchase gets you an entire row! If I was to go to another race, I would act bad and sit at various locations on my row during the course of the race! LOL!

Darlington being one of the exceptions....you ain't stretching out at that joint.

They and their fans have if figured out.....one of the last bastions of true grand national racing.
