Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals to Finish 2019 with Visits to Dixie, Rome & 411 Motor Speedway

BRASSTOWN, NC (May 20, 2019)—The 2019 edition of the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels will come to a close on May 25-27 with a triple-header of action and culminate with the 7th Annual Scott Sexton Memorial on Monday May 27 at 411 Motor Speedway.

On Saturday May 25, the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Ga. will open the weekend as the Spring Nationals travelers will visit the Swims Family promoted facility located north of Atlanta racing 40 laps for $4,000-to-win. On Sunday May 26, the series travelers will visit another Swims Family-promoted facility, Rome (Ga.) Speedway racing 50 laps for $5,000-to-win. The finale of the Spring Nationals Series will be Monday May 27 at the McCarter-Family promoted 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn. racing 52 laps for $10,052-to-win during the Scott Sexton Memorial event. The race at 411 will be co-sanctioned with the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com.

The prestigious event on Memorial Day at 411 Motor Speedway, which is a must-see event for all race fans in the East Tennessee area, is being held in the memory of the late Scott Sexton, a mainstay in the East Tennessee racing scene for more than 25 years, who passed away in January 2013 at just 46 years of age. Scott began his racing career at the tender age of 6. Sexton was an 8-time World Karting Association World Champion before moving into Dirt Late Models in 1986, where he quickly became a fan favorite around East Tennessee, earning the nickname “Superman”. Between 1995 and 2005, Sexton won 10 SAS tour events between Atomic Speedway, Volunteer Speedway, 411 Motor Speedway and Tazewell Speedway and was the track champion in 1991 and 1995 at Volunteer Speedway, along with garnering many other special event wins. Scott was known as one of the most fan-friendly drivers in the area, always participating in charitable events and usually donating his winning trophies to children at the track. Sexton will always be remembered for giving back to the sport he loved so much.

Previous Scott Sexton Memorial winners include: Chris Madden (2013), Brad Neat (2014), Ray Cook (2015), Ricky Weiss (2016) and Mike Marlar in 2017. Previous Spring Nationals Series winners at Volunteer Speedway include Dale McDowell and John Blankenship in 2013, Jimmy Owens and Chris Madden in 2014, Mike Marlar, Chris Madden in 2016, Mike Marlar in 2017 and Dale McDowell in 2018.

On Saturday May 25 at Dixie Speedway, the pit gates will open at 3:00 pm, the grandstand gates will open at 5:00 pm with racing at 7:00 pm. Adult general admission is $20.00, adult tailgate will be $25.00 and adult pit passes are $40.00. A full racing program for all other supporting divisions will also be on tap. This will mark the seventh-ever visit by the series. Previous winners at Dixie are: Dale McDowell in 2018 & 2017, Mike Marlar in 2016, Donald McIntosh in 2015, Dale McDowell in 2014 and Steve Casebolt in 2013.

On Sunday May 26 at Rome Speedway, the pit gates will open at 3:00 pm, the grandstand gates will open at 5:00 pm with racing at 7:00 pm. Adult general admission is $20.00, adult tailgate will be $25.00 and adult pit passes are $40.00. A full racing program for all other supporting divisions will also be on tap. This will mark the fourth-ever visit by the series. Previous winners at Rome are: Dale McDowell in 2017, Jonathan Davenport in 2016 and Casey Roberts in 2015.

On Monday May 27 at 411 Motor Speedway, the gates will open at 2:00 pm, the drivers meeting will be at 6:30 pm and hot laps will follow at 7:00 pm. Adult general admission will be $25.00 while adult pit passes & adult tier parking tickets will be $35.00. The Sportsman Late Models & Classics will also be on the racing card. This will mark the first-ever appearance by the Spring Nationals to the 411 Motor Speedway, located minutes from Knoxville, Tenn. The event will be the final points race on the 2019 schedule.

The tire rule for Dixie Speedway, Rome Speedway and 411 Motor Speedway is as follows: Hoosier 1350, 1600 along with the American Racer 48 and 56. The entry fee is $100.00 per event. All drivers not making the field of 22 will receive $75.00 tow money.
