"PACE Promotions and the Waite family regret to announce the cancellation of the 9th Annual Bill Waite, Jr. Memorial Classic on July 21st, 2019, at LaSalle Speedway. Over the past weekend, we were informed by LaSalle Speedway management that they have decided to cease operations immediately. We wish to thank the entire “Waite” team, over 100 sponsor/ advertisers, late model and sprint drivers, and organizations that have already offered guidance and/or committed their time and dollars to the 2019 edition of the Bill Waite, Jr. Memorial Classic."

Wonder if WRG will lease the track for the Summernationals event, or if they will reschedule somewhere else.

I would think rescheduled elsewhere or canceled. Not leased? Sarge gonna jump up and rent the track for a day?

WRG could move Tony's summernationals event to Sycamore. Oh wait, they've already done that screw job.

Wilmot is a Track Enterprises promoted race.

Wilmot is a Track Enterprises promoted race. Thanks for clarifying. Cool someone kept Wilmot going after Tony. Think he started the Summernats at Wilmot, didn't he?

I'm not surprised this has happened. They have been on thin ice for a while now. You never knew from race to race whether they were going to race or not.

Tony has only himself to blame for that.

Well someone had to finally pull the plug. I feel bad for Tony but like I said I'm not surprised Kerry shut it down.

Kerrianne is the daughter. It was Kerry Izzo (the mother) that posted it saying she alone made the decision. She, no doubt, was the one keeping things in order behind the scenes and was forced to finally pull the plug when it got to a certain point. A hard decision to make I’m sure.

Over the last few years Tony kinda dug a pretty good hole

It's probably very difficult to successfully run a specials-only schedule in Central Illinois. I know they had a hard time drawing cars for the support classes, since a lot of those drivers (specifically IMCA Modifieds/Sport Mods and UMP Modifieds) compete for track championships and don't want to miss a night at their home tracks.

LaSalle has a location problem. It's too far east to be IMCA, and too close to Fairbury to be weekly UMP. Sycamore is now running Supers nearly every Saturday this year, so that is another big blow.

There simply aren't enough Late Models to go around anymore. The costs weren't reigned in before the technological genies were let out of the bottle. I'm certainly no expert since I'm just an avid (and relatively new) fan, but it appears to me that LaSalle is the latest victim of the out of control costs of Super Late Model racing. If there were enough cars to go around, I'm sure they would still be running weekly. Heck, I remember when Peoria had to run B-MAINS for regular weekly shows, now they've combined the Steel Blocks with the Supers just to artificially increase the car count. The cost of racing is killing racing.
